Fostering panel

Hi I've not posted on here before either, my husband and I are going through the process of fostering, we have our panel booked for November. I'm wondering if anyone knows if it would be frowned upon if we deferred our panel date? Would it go against us? We have still to do a lot of the training, and my husband has taken so much time off what with all the meetings at home etc we just feel under a lot of pressure financially. Our borough are very desperate for foster carers and are running stages 1 and 2 at the same time, but I feel this is throwing us into panic! I do want to continue with the process but feel we have too much to do before November .... any comments welcome

I have written form f reports and also sat on a fostering panel. I think it's great that you have identified how you are feeling and it shouldn't be frowned upon if you are needing to take longer with the process. There are a lot of courses and it is time consuming. Panel dates naturally get chopped and changed all of the time (i.e. If all paper work not completed) although it is ideal to try and get as close to timescales as possible.
They may question whether you will cope financially etc if you are having to attend a lot of medical appointments or meetings for a looked after child. So it's worth preparing yourself for those sorts of questions in advance. Good luck with the process and your panel :)

Thanks it's just that my husband has taken a lot of time off for this and he's self employed, I can do all the training, but they need him to do it too - for Dr appointments etc I will be available - might speak to our SW
