Holiday during stage 2

Hi

This is my first thread on here although been reading various topics within the adoption process which have been very helpful so thanks!
Anyway we are in stage 2 and haven't had a holiday as we were advised not too however we have been given our date when our par report has to be in and our panel 2 weeks later and was hoping to have a week abroad inbetween. Our sw has advised they strongly advise we don't do that incase there are any problems or questions that need answering . I suppose what I'm after is anyone's experience with this topic and I am very aware at times we have to jump through hoops for want of a better term and ultimately it's our decision .I'm positive that it's not going to be the difference in being approved and not but will sw and panel note that we went against their advice ? Other potential adopters that we have been speaking to are going on holiday and not telling sw or going against advice. Cheers

Go on holiday, make sure you have wifi there and be in contact by phone and email. Make the social worker know you will be accessible and that the break will get you in a good frame of mind to face panel.

Alternatively, book a week after panel, you will still be waiting for official notification and again you can be on hand to take phone calls or read emails.

Hardly anywhere is off the grid these days so no reason even if something does crop up you can't be on hand to answer questions or provide further info

Go on holiday, be contactable. Panel should never know. (It'd be a pretty shabby SW who added it to your PAR.)

Agree with the previous posters. As long as you're contactable by phone, it should be OK. We went away between approval and matching panel and it wasn't an issue as we could still email/call SW as necessary.

Go on holiday. It really isn't an issue. If a match crops up quickly, you might not get chance for years. Although if the dates don't matter to you, straight after panel is slightly easier.

Thanks for answers but it's not matching panel it's the par report and the approving panel. X

"Thanks for answers but it's not matching panel it's the par report and the approving panel. X"

I think that was clear, but we had a match confirmed less than two weeks after approval panel- we didn't go abroad for another 3 years. What I mean is, it's probably more convenient now than during matching.

We went away the week before panel. Our Par was sent to us by email whilst we were away. We logged into the wifi and read it by the pool before replying with any changes.

JustHappy3 · 20/07/2017 08:09

Be aware that you might get bumped from the panel anyway. I'd take the holiday if you are contactable.

bellasuewow · 20/07/2017 10:19

Hey Clara, well done we are at almost exactly the same stage as you, once the par has been submitted then there are no more amends I don't think you will hear much so agree with others about taking a trip as long as you have email and are contactable. Will you be able to relax though?

We went on holiday between being linked up with our DCs and the official matching panel.
I have lovely memories of sitting in Puerto Calero, Lanzarote, dictating a statement on why we would be a good match to our SW.
