Utterly heartbreaking isn't it? Both for the parents and the kids.

I saw only a few minutes of it and was horrified by what a gross invasion it was of the children's privacy. It's an important subject for the general public to understand more about but that doesn't justify it.

I agree Rain the children did not need to be filmed at all....only 1 child's face was blurred out. BUT you could say that about any programme that is made about LAC or adoption programme etc...where does the line end where filming children is involved?

It was interesting to hear the women's stories - eg some of them were fighting to keep their 8th child after having 7 previous removed....they were all there voluntarily - it was a sought after detox placement. The only one in the UK where children can stay with the parents.

they seemed desperate to be clean - but on the first outing alone 2 women went (with children) and got high because they saw the opportunity. desperately sad.

at the end it said 8 months on they were all with their children still trying to stay clean.

It gave insight to what BM go through if nothing else....

I found that part fascinating, the woman fighting to keep her 8th child. On paper I'd have felt like after 7 previous chances, baby 8 would have been better to be removed at birth. The program gave me real insight and made me aware that things aren't so black and white.

I was very touched by the such obvious despair of one of the toddlers whose mother had used while in treatment and her 14 year old son, he was more like a 30 year old carer, sad that he had to be so mature at such a young age...

Boston, agreed, I had similar qualms about the adoption programmes. I'm against both but in this instance, it was so specific about their mothers' difficulties, I thought it was an unacceptable level of detail about their upbringing to be in the public domain.
