Why are adoptive parents eternally "Becoming a Parent"?

Hi there,

I find it slightly strange that adoption only features in "Becoming a Parent" and not also under "Being a Parent" in the mumsnet forum. I was under the impression that I am a parent. I would like a second adoption entry under "Being a Parent". What do others think?
