Childcare during Intros

Hi all,

We're on countdown to placement for number 2. Excitement levels are through the roof!! Grin

Has anyone claimed expenses from LA for childcare during intros?

Currently looking into what the best thing to do is. Options are, see if we can get DD in nursery for a couple of extra weeks (only there term time at moment, intros during holidays). Or draft in the grandparents as cover (but this would involve staying at our house which would not be ideal during intros).

All advice gratefully received, thank you.

We swapped our sons days around when DD was placed so he was in Nursery for the 3 days we went to FC house and then he was home with us for the remainder of the week. We didn't ask LA to cover as it didn't cost us any extra.

Good luck!

What is the plan about introducing DC2 to DC1? We had grandparents looking after our DC1 during the day for the first two days, but then DC1 was with us for the rest of intros so childcare wasn't an issue.

Our dd was at school. We met ds on day 1 and 2 and she joined us day 3. Then weekend together and her back at schol days 6-8, and then ds moved in. It was 8 days. How long are your intros? Any more than two weeks seems too long.

In your shoes I'd cover with nursery, ask if you can claim if you wish to.

Roping on GPS seems to bring an added level of unnecessary 'non-normality' if you see what I mean.

Also, for us, some of intros was my alone or Dh alone. eh one early morning get to, one or two put to bed routines.

Can you say how long schedule is?

E.g. one morning get up!

We had kids looked after by family for first day and then after that introduced them into the process. Went really well for us but not sure all LA'S will allow them to join in so soon.

Thanks all. Will have to check with Family finder what the plan is likely to be.
We'd been going on the assumption that placement was going to be during term time, but it's just sneaking into the holidays.

We rented a holiday cottage for partner and myself, DS1 and the grandparents (as DS2 was in foster care far away). Grandparents did childcare for the first couple of days and helped out as we gradually introduced the boys to each other. 4 days there, then 4 more days at our home. So far so good. Smile
