Pupil premium at nursery?

HI everyone.

DD starts nursery in August. Will the nursery get PP for her?

Is there anything we should be asking them to spend it on in particular? She is a little behind on her speech but I am hoping that will improve soon as she isn't even 2 yet.

Early Years Pupil Premium is applicable for eligible children age 3 and 4 in early years education (so not in reception); so your daughter won't be eligible yet I'm afraid.

Hi, your little one may be entitled to exceptional needs or emerging needs funding, speak to the nursery manager and they will be able to help you.

Hi DS nursery started to receive it the start of the term following his 3rd birthday.

We're lucky in that a number if the kids at nursery get it and the manager is very open to pooling it for specific things (the early ears element isn't a massive amount), in fact they are in the process of setting up training for all staff with our post adoption charity who are trailing a session aimed at pre school providers of adopted kids.

Although we did not get pupil premium for our Pixie until he was three they thought he was a bit behind on his speech and got him an SALT assessment at nursery. However, actually being at nursery did so much for his speech development that by the time we got the assessment the therapist could barely get a word in edgeways which is basically our life now! So our experience was just that nursery itself helped. Hope it goes well.

Thanks Barbados girl. That's what I am thinking so don't really have a need for it right now but would have claimed it for use for nursery overall if we could not utilise it specifically for DD.

Our little one 2.8 has brain injury and global delays Nursery Brilliant .
But would advise contact LA's Schools Statuary Disability team for advice as we did before hand . they put in a pathway plan preceding a Educational Health care plan. He has a full supporting team who work as a nursery and home partnership professionals attend home and nursery . He is doing brilliant as Barbad's says nursery its self helps.
But any issues need to be assessed early.

On the plus side our support net work at nursery are training the staff., also providing free training courses such as sigh language which has the added benefit for the other children in nursery who learn new skill's, such as early years British sign language, Cost and benifits far exceed PP.
