Hello all.
Things have been going swimmingly for us for a few months and LO has even started to sleep through from time to time. I sm ever grateful for the support I received on here early on. Made a huge difference.
I wondered if I could pick your brains about the AO hearing. We have ours on Monday, the BP's had until mid September to appeal I believe and we haven't been told if that happened or not. Do you know how quickly we will hear an outcome? I am panicking that something will go wrong and they will take her away! How long did it take people to habe a date for the celebration hearing?

Our LOs SW left, we haven't got a new one yet and ours in lovely but v new to adoption SW, slightly choccy teapotish. No one is being forthcoming with answers.

Hi - judgment was given on the day, there was no appeal and we had the celebration hearing within 30 days.

Our celebration day was scheduled at the same time as hearing was for 3 weeks later. No idea what they'd have done if it had been contested.

I am waiting for a date for ao also . I think it is natural to worry about outcome even tho you know with the logical part of the brain that it will all be fine in the long term. Our childs mother has already been to high court to try and challenge placement order so she is likely to ask for leave to appeal again. I cant wait to come out the other end of the legal process and i am trying to put it all at the back of my mind.

I phoned the court directly the day after the AO hearing. SW took a week to email me with the outcome! It was 6 weeks until the celebration hearing, but that was because I requested a Friday or Monday for family travelling a long distance.

Our ao was contested sadly.
All it took was bm to write a crappy letter and that was it. Delayed for months. Because then the system have to be seen to listening and being accountable to her. It then took about 4 months for order to be granted. There was no way lo was going to bm but it triggers a whole new ball game. Ss were convinced she wouldn't contest but she did. It was a terrible time with a lack of support.

My LO's BP objected too. It took 11 months from application to AO - hope your journey is smoother and quicker. I would second giving the court a call to find out what happened -it was a much more effective way to find out what was happening than waiting for or chasing up SS.

We had a challenge too and it took about 6 months. But the LA should know whether BM has requested leave to appeal. If there hasn't been an appeal, you could be done and dusted on the same day.

Bm was meant to contest before court hearing if it was done properly but she rocked up on the day. Everyone was surprised.
Would definitely not rely on ss to relay information, and ring the court. I was told quite firmly by our sw that they did not have to tell us if it was contested as it's bm's right to do so and we basically have to get on with it as it's our choice to adopt. It was very difficult to say the least. I think courts have a 20week timescale from 1st cost hearing to get the matter concluded. Ours was over that.

It is a really horrible part of the process ! Even tho you know the parents wont win it just adds a lot of stress on adoptive families when they are trying to settle and bond. We are adopting our foster child and so we know the birth family. They are happy we are adoptiog their lo as they know they cant care for him but mum has always said she will exhaust every legal avenue available. I have told her i respect her right to do so (and i would do the same in her position tbh). Having said that i have tried to put it at the back of my mind but it is that constant feeling of living in limbo and them not quite being your child that i find hard. I just cant wait to emerge the other side of the process ao in hand so i can finally stop holding my breath!

Anyway to all in the same position good luck and one day it will all be over! Hooray.

My birth sons ao took about 4 months from filing of application to court hearing. I didn't contest it was just delayed unfortunately due to court not having available slots

No ones fault though

Ours has been contested, there was a first hearing, then a hearing to listen to her argue why lo shouldnt be adopted and now we are waiting the hearing to be told yes and get a celebration day booked. Phew! Thank goodness for wine!!

I called the court the following day and was told the outcome over the phone and booked in for the celebration hearing, then around 2 or 3 weeks later the adoption cert arrived in the post. I informed SS as SW said that their legal team would takes weeks to update them.

Thanks all, the waiting is killing me.
I can't believe such a major thing for us all has happened and we don't know anything, suppose though its like the whole adoption journey. Our LA are literally shocking, our child's SW left 8 weeks ago, we were allocated a new one but no contact from her since despite me chasing. It's impossible to speak to anyone. Right, going to ring the court after the school run! Keep everything crossed

Hi all, it was bloody adjourned for 4 weeks as SS didn't complete the paperwork properly. Livid doesn't come close. We are having a meeting with the 7th SW my LO has had today to explain further, deep.joy. next hearing also now happens to be on the day I return to work!!!!!!

The next four weeks will soon pass by, Halloween and bonfire night to look forward to then before you know it you will have an AO in your hands
