We're having celebration hearing in two weeks and my sw still has not told the child's sw that my daughter name has been changed

Tbh my sw has tried to contact her but she's not that easy to get hold of

Now we're at the end and she knows nothing

What will happen on the day feel a bit 🙁

Have you not got your childs sw contact details? I find that odd, we have regular meetings with both our social worker and our child's social worker. I have her phone number and email. Can't you contact her yourself? We haven't had a celebration day yet but I'm sure it won't affect it. Surely if an email is sent she will get it?

It's not that we had real issues with this

We tried to raise the name change with the LA early on that didn't go well the family finder whet immediately to her manger and a sting worded email was sent telling us it was la policey no name change under any circumstance

My daughter had a name that only 50 children in U.K. Have
My social worker worked agreed they were being unreasonable and to change it day one on introductions and that she would tell the sw when the time is relight however the sw has been a bit elusive tbh I have a paper trail

Emails alike so can back up we informed out sw and what advice she gave us just a bit nervous to her reaction on celebration day don't want it spoiled

there's no reason for her to attend the celebration hearing (or even know when it is) unless you invited her, so she shouldn't have any impact hopefully?

Clockworklemon · 11/09/2016 18:38

Try not to worry, you did the right thing. If she's that elusive, hopefully she will be too busy to attend.

Our childs SW knew the date and attended the celebration hearing, it wasn't a case of us "inviting" or informing her (we would rather she hadn't attended, having been rubbish throughout), she was notified by the court. I assumed that was common practise, perhaps not?

I would take the attitude of 'oh well, she'll realise when she gets here!' What can they say? If they're rude enough to make something of it, on your DD's day, then they deserve a harsh response.

Your daughter. You decide what's in her best interests, and it sounds like you didn't take this decision lightly.

They may be entitled to come to court, but if you're having a meal after or anything, you can wave 'goodbye!' and enjoy your day.

MintyLizzy9 · 11/09/2016 20:31

i wouldn't worry about it, there is nothing she can do or say now. That's a good journey for what is a ten minute chat!

Are you/DC ok with the FC coming along, is this the first meeting? Only asking as it's an emotional day without the added emotions of seeing FC!

My DS SW emailed me that morning to back out of coming..... You may get lucky!

Italiangreyhound · 11/09/2016 22:42

I am sure it will be fine.

Are you happy foster caters are coming?

Who invited them?

Hope your day goes really well.

MyDogEatsBalloons · 11/09/2016 22:50

I'm shocked that they're coming without being invited by you! We didn't even invite our own SW (we had a new one late in the process we didn't gel with), and we really wouldn't have thought it was a day appropriate for the foster care to be at. Hope it all goes well!

OlennasWimple · 14/09/2016 17:41

Woah! Hold on there - FC coming as well?

We got on great with our FC, and they have attended various events over the years, but there's no way that they would have been at the celebration hearing.
