Hi Flower

How is your little one getting on? Hope you are not too shattered!

The people that were putting me forward to the private company have spoken to thier SW. The SW has advised that as I dont drive she had advised its better i wait until I can

The reason being that I am in Leeds and thier company tend to get children from Halifax/Kirklees and when they have assessments etc I wouldn't be able to take them. SW said that I could apply but it wasn't fair to put me through the process then I wait ages for a placement. I think it was nice of her to be so honest but have to admit I felt really deflated. It has given me the kick start to get off my butt and drive now!

I have been waiting 4 weeks for authority to get in touch - they said it takes three weeks - but am going to call them tomorrow.

ThisTime,
I'm so sorry I've only just seen this
Can I just say that neither me nor my DH drive, never have done, never wanted to. It certainly hasn't stopped us.

When we have to take children somewhere at social services request they will either put a taxi on for me or the childs social worker will take us.

It is not insurmountable by any means.

Hi Flower

Just to update you, I have had my chat with local authorities and they are unable to out me forward as they said Sam is too young. They to said to apply when Sam is 5 and they would then place me with an under 3.

So stuck now, private agancy or authority dont want me so going to have to look into another private agency. Feel so deflated

Can you offer me any advice?

How is your litte man getting on, good i hope

Hi, I would query this as my youngest was only three almost 4 when we had our first chat with social services and they put us forward for training assessment and approval and we had two other older kids as well.

Waiting until sam is five seems a waste of a lot of time you could be using to do training.

Did they say this was normal practise.

Hi Flower

Finally got to to speak to them...they dont rush do they!

They said that to apply around Sam's fourth birthday then can go through process and hopefully passed when Sam is nearing to 5. Only 2 years to go!

Have you still got your little man with you?

Hi This Time, I think thats silly, after all they don't say to parents you must wait till your first child is 5 before you get pregnant again.

The lo is still with me,he's almost 6 weeks old now, doesn't time fly when you're getting no sleep. He has me up from 4am most mornings but he's pretty good during the day.
