Foster to Adopt entitlement .

Has anyone any advice on pay or entitlement when FTA?
Both me and DH work for NHS so would get the equivalent of mat leave, him paternity leave if going through typical adoption

However when looking into it i cant see anything about getting the above whilst FTA, it would seem it only kicks in once adoption order gone through!
And nothing about whilst in the "foster" period.
Can anyone help on this?

We were told its kicks in when placement starts due to the type of placement. But it's complicated!

We got ours as soon as DS was placed with us, it ceased after matching panel (3 months later, it was a super quick FTA). We weren't expecting it all actually, so it was a nice and welcome surprise.

sorry if sounding thick but we are so confused. Baby to come Wednesday, i haven't officially started any leave yet as its been a bit of a rush. i was going to ring tomorrow to sort.

So did the adoption leave start as soon as the baby arrived?
Or when the adoption period licked in?

Hi OP, for us we were 'fostering' (therefore paid by our LA) until matching panel and then it was considered an adoption placement.

However, as far as my employers were concerned I was adopting, I told them it was FTA obviously and sent them the above link in fact, but to all intents and purposes that was me on 'adoption leave'. My adoption leave wasn't affected and that was paid by my employers from the day I started my leave. Does that help?! I'm confused just writing it down - it did all work out with no worries!!

Sorry OP, just re-read my confusing post. In short, your adoption leave starts the day you choose to leave work.The fostering money is more of an LA concern and doesn't affect your adoption leave in any way.

Thanks everyone, its all made sense now and has put us at ease.
I am going ring my employers tomorrow and ensure they have the new updated version and start my leave the day (hopefully Wednesday ) the LO arrives.

Oh and good luck Flowers. I know FtA gets mixed reviews but for us it was the best thing ever.

Thank you, We both know it comes with great risks, but we have chosen to take those risks. Its so nice to hear how positive it was for you. Fingers crossed for us :)
