Merry Christmas 2015 - advice, sharing, ANYTHING!

Hi all

The turkey is nearly done and the Snowman is on TV.

It's Christmas 2015.

Anyway want to share how it is going, or how it went?

We've had some fun and games, and some tears when ds (adopted 20 months ago aged almost 4) lost! Or rather did not win. Massive tears. Massive temptation to cheat and allow ds to win, but dd (birth child aged 11) had already won! Have decided it cannot be avoided. He wanted games for Christmas (this one came from his Godmother and not us but we had brought other similar games).

So I cannot see an option but to play, make light of who wins and loses and get onto the next thing - the turkey!

We had a lovely day. Kicked off at 630 am. Baby happy to just play with first present out of the sack bless him. Lovely lunch with parents, little one stole the show obviously and was lovely all day, despite being quite clearly worn out by the time the queen came on. Back home for tea.

Now on prosecco as baby asleep. It has been really magical. :) I could never have imagined this time last year that we would be this happy just one year later.

NigelLikesSalad that is fabulous, your first Christmas together. It is very magical. Well done for coping with the early start!

I met a friend at church today. We were infertility buddies. We adopted our 2 kids and eventually she had an IVF baby who is now 4. We were talking about how great Christmas is with the kids. They once went on a Caribbean cruise for Christmas. She said Christmas with her DD is a million times better than the cruise.

I spent some of this morning stopping my two kids from making a lot of noise in church, but also kissing and hugging them! They are lovely. And noisy!

Ah, ds was outraged by his stocking 'and more!!' even though it was really very modest. He insisted on sharing his (3) chocolate coins and three was 'too much'. So he's had one present a day and this could go on some time. Little things like this remind us how hard he still finds things but we had a lovely big family day and he's such an important part of the extended family now. Congratulations to everyone who has had their first Chritmas as a family and good wishes for the year to come.

It was our first Christmas too absolutely fabulous. DS placed 7months ago stole the show. I can't even put into words how brilliant everything has been. I'm so tired haha. Merry Christmas everyone. X

We played the Tooth Fairy game today and it was a lot better than Christmas Day.

I would recommend it, it is quite simple and ds (5) and dd (11) did not get bored (and it was over within half an hour)!

Ahh happy Christmas! We have only just decided to try for adoption after 3.5 years of ttc and 4 mc's.

I'm not sure how long it takes, we are in Scotland and apparently it doesn't take as long as it used to.

AnnieHoo very sorry to hear about the miscarriages you have experienced.

I hope things well go on your journey to adoption.

No idea how long it takes in Scotland, it took us 20 months from start to our child coming to us, and that was about 20 months ago.

However, since then things have both speeded up in the preparation time but slowed down in the matching stage. You may wish to start a new thread asking about times specifically in Scotland.

Or perhaps post on the newbies thread - it is not as busy as it once was but it might be worth a try!

Our 9th(!) Christmas has been good. We've not been anywhere, and family have come to us. DD2's age 11, best presents were a tablet and 3 cuddly toys

We've had a hard 4 months with DD1 since she started 6th form, so I'm really hoping that 2016 is a bit calmer (and she gets to the top of the college's waiting list for counselling soon).

I recently taught the girls to play whist so we've been playing that.
