Social worker - home visit

Been for the first meeting and now the SW is coming for the 1st visit soon. Been told it will be 3 hours. What should we expect?

Have you met a social worker at all yet? For us, our first SW visit was with a 'preliminary visit' SW and it was a very general chat - a little about a lot! How we met, what we do, hobbies, childhood, family dynamics, path to adoption, etc. These all got revisited in more depth later down the line with our proper SW. We also had to gather a lot of paperwork for our first meeting - birth certificate, pay slip, marriage certificate, passport.

Assuming this is the start of your home study then it will be lots of questions! My SW basically started from my earliest childhood memories and took it from there. Lots of questions about things I remembered, how I was disciplined, who my friends were etc. Each week we moved in to a different phase of my life. I may have also talked her through my career history at that first meeting as well. Have you done your life story yet? mybsessions seemed to follow that and the gazillion questions based in it!! Survived the first visit! Thanks for the advice. Like you say three hours of questions but nothing unexpected or too tricky. We wait til the NY to find out if we proceed....
