I'm terrified. As you were.

How can we help? Hand-holding? Words of wisdom? Gin?

LastingLight · 17/08/2015 19:28

And so the parenting adventure begins...

Well, they are in bed and we think asleep. We are waiting for a possible night terror to kick off - we have wine. It's a weird and wonderful feeling isn't it? Xxx

Congratulations!
I recommend downloading a white noise app to play as you are going to sleep. My ears prickled with alertness for months. It's like a new awakening for your senses.
Here's hoping it goes smoothly for you and that you don't come down with freshers flu (stock up just in case, every adopter I know has been struck!)
Cheers to your beautiful new family! Wine

It's a funny feeling that first night isn't it? Quiet like before they came, but also nothing like before they came. I just kept looking at all the stuff in the house that wasn't there before. And creeping in to watch him sleep. Good luck as you get to know each other and build your new little family. And sleep whenever you can!

slkk · 17/08/2015 22:46

I still creep in to watch him sleep...

Tangerineandturquoise · 18/08/2015 08:59

I was wondering how you were getting on.
Well done for getting them to sleep so early!
How was this morning?

gabsdot45 · 18/08/2015 21:00

Congratulations. It's mad isn't it. I remember our first night and feeling that dispite the process taking so long and being so hard, it almost felt like it all happened too quickly in the end.

CloserToFiftyThanTwenty · 18/08/2015 22:23

Congratulations! Wine

HaveAWeeNap · 20/08/2015 20:03

How's tricks?

UnderTheNameOfSanders · 21/08/2015 07:15

Congratulations. Hope all going well.

We found the first 3 months really tough, going from 0 children to 2, but somehow it got easier after that.

Desmoulinsonatable · 21/08/2015 09:05

Well, 5 days in - we've managed washing dressing and going out every single day so far (smug face) DD1 has had a couple of restless nights - once for genuine sadness and missing FC and 2nd wanting attention. She has some issues with her speech and DD2 is super vocal, so individual attention is what she is after, but last night with lots of reassurance she slept through. Hurray! So park, lunch, sw visit and Frozen it is to celebrate Friday and maybe a small glass of wine post bedtime! (Knackered obviously)

We are aware this is the honeymoon period and everything will go skeery daft (to quote my Grandmother) shortly...

Remember not to do too much , they get over stimulated easily as they are processing new stuff all the time . A bit like your computer having to do updates constantly . They have programmes running in the background that are draining their batteries

Park and SW is enough for one day

Cinema another day . You are very brave risking Frozen .

( it's kris. Tina here BTW, name changed because of Evil hackers )
