Excitement levels are reaching overload!

We meet our DD for the first time on Tuesday!

Just enough time for one final bank holiday weekend seeing friends and family.

Can. Not. Wait. Grin

MPR - are the FC doing things differently and not helping intros or just not what was agreed? Have you got a meeting with SW to review progress booked into your schedule at all?

Yes, either put your foot down with FC or phone your SW

Hey!!!

Sorry, been a bit busy! Lol!

And fecking exhausted!!!!!!

All going absolutely super duper fantastically incredibly well!

She's had me wrapped round her little finger since day 1! Mid point review today and all systems go for moving in on Friday!!!!

Whoop!

In terms of the "plan" we stuck to it loosely! We've stayed longer than we should do some days and tweaked the trips out here and there. But there has been minimal supervision from SW's do we've taken lead from FC (this is her seventh lot of intros)!

Can't wait for Friday!

The advice which I found super useful was fill the freezer. Lots of home cooked portions for me and him. Didn't use so much during intros but these last couple weeks when establishing routine they have been invaluable!
Also I was v lucky, my foster family were very experienced and had also adopted so were wonderfully supportive in the transition. But it's still exhausting being in someone else's home.
One really useful thing was going to health visitors and playgroup with them. Made me know what to expect when I go solo and got chance for chats with people who'd been involved in his life (not formal like LAD).
I also hadn't really taken into account other foster kids in the home, they're unsure of what's happening so I spent time with them too so they knew when their new mummy was found that it would be ok.
Since placement somethings like a spotless home are impossible! Hey who wants that anyway?
Also the first few days/weeks they want you there all the time so get all jobs done before hand.
Don't forget to do your child benefit forms etc once they move in.
As a single I'm with him 24/7 so I went by how we were both reacting, towards the end of first week I arranged play date so we both got age appropriate company and it benefitted us both. All friends know cuddles, looking after etc are for me to do whilst bonding and attaching so I've met up a few times for walks etc and again he's been fine.
Strict rules that the house is his place where he can expect the familiar so no one meets him there. It works for us. No one is an all rules fits each family so go with your gut and what you need! His foster mum kept saying "he's your child, you make the decisions not the sw's", great advice.
But it's amazing! He's singing away as I rapidly type this so I can go and play with him! Enjoy intros, you'll find them amazing and the start of something wonderful! You'll also have panics and doubts, most normal! Xxxx
