Adoption

Here are some suggested organisations that offer expert advice on adoption.

Has anyone probed Labour on adoption issues?

Labour is my party of choice but they make no mention at all of adoption in their manifesto. Their aims seem to be all related to kinship care. This is of course all well and good but I just wondered if anyone had had that conversation?

There is a good summary by BAAF. www.baaf.org.uk/node/7745
It seems to be that Labour want to increase support for kinship adoption (a la post adoption support I guess). Tories seem to have the best idea and I'm not a Tory but the Lib Dem one is also positive.

I think labour will be getting my vote, I know Valerie Vaz, a labour MP, was instrumental in bringing the discrepancy between adoption pay and leave to parliaments attention; and well, I just don't trust the Tories not to slash children's services in the next trench of council cuts. Plus locally there are rumours of privatising children's services? shudder.

Thanks all. Would rather have a leg off than vote Tory but am a little frustrated that they seem to have the most positive adoption policy. Ahh well. Grin
