I have been asked to write a pen profile of 300 words to go towards my PAR. I have no idea where to start. Can anyone offer any guidance as to what panel are looking for please, and what I need to include.

Think of it as the blurb you would write in a job application for the position of parent. This is something children's Social Workers will be looking at, so it's important for matching.

Start with your bullet points - what do you do, what are your hobbies, who are your support network, where do you stay - but remember to slant it all to appeal as a prospective match, this is your chance to sell yourself.

Hope that helps. I know it feels odd.

Good luck. Let your personality come through.

My Sw gave me examples. I initially wrote freely, then read suggestions of what questions I should answer and changed some of my emotive speak to more practical, how I would meet childs needs, what support I had had, when I would use it, what was around me resource wise. I ended up 750 words but Sw kept as long as it printed on 1 page cos it was entirely me.
Don't be afraid to say how much love, fun, security etc you will bring to a child's life and then back up with practical.
I asked family to read through and they said it made them cry so I thought I must have hit the right note! Just grab that excitement you feel and get it on paper! Xx
