Where have all the children gone?

Please bear with me feeling a bit frustrated today but where have all the children gone? Adoption Link is showing 616 children on the register today for the whole of the UK. I understand that there are less Adoption Orders being placed but surely this is a very low number.

We were planning to start by adopting one child and then adopt another child a year later (we are a little cautious with the idea of 2 children at once because we had a break down in intros for a child this time last year) but there seem to be far more siblings than only children ready for placement at the moment and I wondered if any of you have decided to adopt sibling rather than an only first time round for that reason?

Their was a judgment a while ago to a la wh hadn't down their homework and the placement Order was repealed however this was cleared up as or course the las all got nervous because usually they do a piss poor job the reports are usually late full of mistakes ECt but it doesn't take away from the children are being abused but you have to do things right so the las espically the bad ones rather than risk being told off are simply just leaving the children in care in about a year or two their will be two many children in foster carer the system will buckle and a la will be shouted at for leaving a child in care for two long or a child will die at the hand of their parents and the arrow will swing back it's about risk vs reward

If you want siblings I would go with that tbh if you adopt one due to their needs a 2nd may not be possible my friend has just adopted siblings and she is happy though they are hard work she is as pleased as punch and has got a fab support package from their la

I am sure you are right 99pokerface our SW said they know it is not in the child's interest to have long term foster care but she hopes things will change soon.
