Adoptive mum and SW.... saying hello!

Hi everyone,
long time lurker here [waves].
But finally thought I should post! I'm a social worker in a local authority adoption team, and also an adoptive mum of 2 (and have one birth child and 2 step kids). I totally appreciate that people often want to let off steam about their social worker and the process so wasn't sure how the others on this board would feel about a sw joining.... but I thought I might be able to add a new perspective sometimes, and it's nice for me to chat to other adopters without it always being work related.
So just saying hello really!

hello Marmite

I'm not an adoptive parent, but an adoptee and lurk quite a bit.
i'm pretty sure I have read a couple of posters who said they were sw, not sure if on this board or others though.
I'm sure you will welcomed by other parents.

Welcome!
It's nice to have SW/adopter on here to give your prospective as I suppose we only see one side. Xxx

Marmite of course you are most welcome. Most of the time (if not all of the time) I think when people let off steam or moan it is about a specific situation they are going through, sometimes a specific social worker or adoption agency etc etc, it is not about the whole profession and would not be about you! Unless you have adoptive parents who you are involved with who use this board!

I usually make my posts very general and avoid giving away any personally identifying details if I can!

All the best and welcome.

Hi Marmite! Great name!
I think it's like any area of life really there are some great and some awful. Our own sw is on the awful side and we can't wait until ao is done so we can say goodbye! Little ones sw on the other hand is wonderful and we will definitely miss her!

Hi Marmite! Despite your odd taste in confectionery (marmite and chocolate are both fine, but marmite flavoured chocolate? Too far), you are most welcome here Smile
