Fostering with no spare room

Just a query really. Not looking to do it right now. But wondered if you could foster babies if you do not have a spare room. I live in a 3 bed property with bd 8 and as 2.

There is more than enough room in my bedroom to fit a cot and clothes etc.

But is it allowed?

Not as a general rule, but I'm not sure about babies. I suppose the issue is that you may keep them for longer than planned and they would need a room to move to at some point.

I think it depends a lot on LA. Ours allows babies up to 2 years stay in carer's bedroom and would extend the age limit for a short time if necessary.

Our LA insist on a seperate room even for a baby. Give your LA a call.

My LA allows foster children under 2's in carers bedroom.... I'd enquire with your Local Authority.

id check with your la - due to their being more foster carers for babies than there are babies some are not taking on carers who dont have a spare room and therefore couldnt have older children or a sibling group
