Celebration day

Hi.
Our celebration day is next week. And we're wondering how to celebrate afterwards. The kids would probably love to go to the park or a play centre, but will feel a little over dressed for that.

Some of the ppl I know have just gone out for a meal. (Its's at 1pm) and a few drinks. I'm not a big drinker.

Anyone want to share what they did on the day?

Thanks x

On both occasions we had an appointment to have our photos taken at a studio followed by a family tea party at home.

We went out for a posh lunch with family and friends after the court hearing and then took the kids to have their hand and footprints pressed into a clay plaque to commemorate their special days.

I intentionally turned our celebration days into an alternative to a christening. We even had speeches to thank the wider family and friends for supporting us through the process.

The DCs were only 15 months old though. Older children may struggle with the way we did things.

Happy memories.

Congratulations Thanks

We had tea and cakes at home in the garden with our closest friends, and a big party the weekend after.

We had close family for tea and bought both DC a small gift each. It was a lovely day, so it was great to play out in the garden. We had a big game of footy!

We tried to have an anniversary day, but DS couldn't cope with it, so we didn't dare try again.
Years later, DH and I just chink our glasses on that date, when our very happy, settled teenagers aren't looking :)

We repeated an outing that we did during introductions after lunch with family (our court slot was mid morning). It was a lovely way to come full circle.

Twins in my class had a helicopter flight. It was timed to take them over our school at lunchtime so we could wave at them!! The flight took them on to a helipad at a fancy hotel resort and they had a meal and came back home in a hummer. Fabulous experience for them and their parents.

We went out for posh tea/coffee and cakes at the fancy french patisserie across the road from Family court. We invited our social worker, DS's guardian ad litem and his solicitor and the (very few) family who were with us.

Then we all went home.

DS loved going on the tube best of all! No helicopters for us.
