Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me what sort of thing dd will be asked during a meeting social worker? My husband is hoping to adopt my daughter from a previous relationship, she calls him daddy, this was her idea as is the adoption, birth father has made no effort to see her or pay any maintenance since she was 2, now 9. I understand thry have to make sure everything is ok but she is already getting worked up about talking to them as I can't be in the room with her, she is a T1 diabetic so if she gets really upset it affects her levels and makes her ill, so I would like to know what they will ask so I can reassure her.
Also ex has had younger 3 kids recently taken into care as him and his wife are heavily into drugs, how will this affect our adoption? I have no idea if he will agree or not , depends how high he is at the time.

Hi pickleandspud, my daughters were spoken to by the sw and the sw was lovely with them. They were asked questions about themselves, what they thought our strengths and weakness are and their own, what kind of parenting style we use, and about their relationship with us. But obviously all in a child friendly, age appropriate (different ages) and nice way. Although we couldn't be in the room, we didn't move too far away so could still catch bits of the conversation. The not being in the same room is really more about putting your daughter at ease so she can say how she really feels without being worried about what you will think and not so sw can catch anyone out. Our children did say some things that we winced at but the sw just laughed. Hard at 9 not to worry though.

Eek initial forms have been completed! We are all really pleased it's happening, bit nervous though!
Hope ex doesn't come out from under his junkie rock and cause problems! My lovely pickle is really happy now x x
