I was thinking about adopting but not sure if I should. Also , If you have any story's or advice that would be welcome.

Why do you want to adopt?
Why are you not sure if you should?
There are information events for people considering adoption, so why don't you go along to one and see if this helps you to make up your mind?

Kewcumber · 09/06/2014 14:23

What juneau said really - you haven't said enough for me to comment on.

Lilka · 09/06/2014 14:47

Hi and welcome Smile

I can't tell you whether or not you should - that's something you're going to have to work out for yourself. Adoption isn't a one size fits all. Not everyone is right for adoption, no one can tell anyone else that they 'should' adopt.

If you could tell us any more about yourself and what's making you think about adoption, and what's holding you back, that would be helpful

I recommend doing more research if you are unsure as well. There are blogs, memoirs, parenting books about adopted children, internet resources, forums. The more you find out about adoption, the better the position you're in

Wow, you like to keep busy! Gosh.

roadwalker · 22/06/2014 00:29

You will need at least a two year age gap after the quads and some LA's will want a bigger age gap

MerryInthechelseahotel · 22/06/2014 10:36

So Sally which one is the joke? The quads or the adoption? Or both?

Lilka · 22/06/2014 13:24

Now now people, I'm totally sure Sally can manage baby quads AND an adopted sibling of 3 under age 5 all at the same time. Plus the daughter she apparently already has. 8 kids under 5 is dead easy Wink

(If this isn't a joke, I'll eat my non-existant hat. Never responded to our questions at all. I wonder if we gave disappointing answers?)

Kewcumber · 22/06/2014 13:33

Don't be mean Lilka - she doesn't say she wants to adopt younger children. Maybe she wants to adopt a 12 year old...

Lilka · 22/06/2014 13:51

Ah you're right Kew, I apologise

But the great news is, in fantasy land you can have it ALL. You never need to choose or worry about such things as age gaps or bedroom space. So why not go for the sib group of 3 AND a 12 year old? Or you know, 4 unrelated 9-13 year olds at once?

Kewcumber · 22/06/2014 14:04

You've been watching Tracey Beaker again haven't you Lilka, you're describing the Dumping Ground.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 22/06/2014 15:23

Sally, maybe you could run a boarding school as well! Have you thought of that?

Lilka · 22/06/2014 15:31

Watching by coercion only Kew, I assure you. DD2 found it on YouTube. Damn the internet. You used to be able to ban certain TV programs and be assured that your kids actually couldn't then watch it without going to much more significant lengths!

Why not a genuine orphanage instead of a boarding school? Deed poll your name to "Agatha Hannigan" for the full effect! And rename all the kids. You need an Annie, a Pepper, a Molly and an Oliver at the very least.

MerryInthechelseahotel · 22/06/2014 16:17

Did you see Maryz thread on her quads? Maybe Sally's are cats too!
