I was just wondering, if you have been matched to a 2 year old or younger, how long did you have to wait?

We were in the process of being matched before we were approved... And a month later we were the proud parents of a gorgeous 10 month old. Initially we were told that babies were as rare as hens teeth. But now, as he's just turned two, we can't believe we've been parents for more than a year. Good luck to you and don't believe the social workers!

Some lovely stories here. :-). Do you think it's likely to be different now after the Re B-S case?

We've been approved six weeks now and no links yet. Feeling quite restless about it. I suppose it's early days but then there are lots on here with such quick matches. We were approved 0-3.

According to our sw things are dramatically different now. Our dd1 joined us only 18 months ago (we were matched before approval tbh, saw all the files etc) and the la had over 80 children to place, our dd2 was placed 3 months ago and now la have 60 approved adopters and only 2 children!

The children are still there, just with foster families awaiting their placement orders....

What a difficult and frustrating situation all around, judges scared to make orders, children and adopters left waiting longer

Wow - some of these authorities act so quickly! I knew ours is slow....

We were shown our daughter 2 weeks after adoption panel and then it took another 6 weeks to be 'matched'. Our matching panel is then 3 months later. So, December approved adopters. Matched 16 Jan. Matching panel 7 April.

BTW she is under 2!

I think it really is down to the area in a lot of cases. I would imagine easy to place under 2's will almost always be adopted "in house" so if you are with an LA that has a lot of children under 2 the wait will be shirt. If you're with an LA that doesn't have many children under 2 it will be very difficult.
When we were choosing agencies the LA we went with said they have a lot if under 2's at that time also because their "adopters" we're looking for school age children. It will of course be an ever changing picture but it was certainly the case for us.
We were linked with a baby pre placement order as soon as we were matched. We then waited 4 months for the placement order to be issued and he was then placed with us under foster to adopt at 6 months. He's been home 2 months now and we are now matched so back on the normal adoption route.
