Hi! I've posted a few times before, but tend to be more of a browser, taking on everyone's advice! I was hoping that somebody would be able to put my mind at ease please; we were approved on March 18th, ratified two weeks later and then very excitingly we had a possible link just 2 weeks later! We had a visit from the child's SW and FF on May 1st and then on the 2nd it was confirmed that the match was going to go ahead!! YIPPEEE!!! However, since that date we have had no further information from our SW and as it is 2 weeks ago tomorrow, I was just wondering is this normal? Or should we have heard something by now? We were told that they were aiming for matching panel on June 17th and I have told work of these dates, as obviously they need to make plans and it is only 5 weeks away.

So, if you have got this far through my waffle(!), am I being impatient as my hubby says?! Grin

As you have already had the visit from SW/FF, and been given a provisional matching panel date, there may not be too much more to do in the meantime from your perspective. There will be one more form to fill in (isn't there always?!) but you have time for that.

Having said that, I don't think there's anything wrong with making friendly contact with your SW just to ask if there's anything you need to be doing, and to ask them if they can confirm yet whether that's the matching panel date you're aiming for Smile

Big congratulations on your link!!

Thanks Polka! We are just sooo excited/nervous/anxious etc etc in massive measures, it's hard not to be impatient! We were told that we would have a meeting with the foster carer and paediatrician before MP, but as you say, there's still plenty of time for all of that, after all, it's only one day!

I will look forward to receiving yet another form to complete!!! Wink

our experience may be slightly different but since being told the match is going ahead, we have met with health visitors, doctor (to discuss childs health) and nursery teachers (obviously not required if your dc was not at nursery). We have also been sent a matching report which we need to complete, sign and return. We have one more meeting with therapeutic team then i suspect a few weeks with nothing to report.
if in doubt....contact your SW. good luck and congratulations Smile

I agree with Polkadotpatty and I do kind of think you are being a bit impatient! But understandably so! But maybe good to chat to your social worker to just get an outline from them of what you should expect in the weeks leading up to panel. For us there was a document we needed to read and sign. We were meant to be given a set amount of time to do this (someone else might know what it is called and how long you should have to read it). Anyway, we got it late so it was a bit of a rush, so good to ask what will happen and when as you are (I think) like me in that you like to know what is happening and when!

We were asked to write a confidential profile of ourselves which would be given to the birth parents. It took us ages. We got asked this right at the end of the process when we had run out of steam, if we had been asked a month before we would have been quicker! Apparently, not all areas do this.

Good luck and congratulations.

Thanks Smile I know I'm being impatient, but it's good to have it confirmed!!! HAHAHAHA!!

I just had this idea that once we were matched, then it would be massively full on busy, busy, busy! So I will be sensible and step back and CHILL! Grin
