I hope you don't mind me posting in this topic but I'm looking for some advice. I'm about to start working with an adoption support agency and my background is not adoption specific so I'd really like to learn more about specific adoption support needs for children and families. Could anyone recommend some good websites/articles/books for me that give a real sense of what families need? Thanks in advance.

Suggest you take a look at

BAAF

www.baaf.org.uk/

and

Adoption UK

www.adoptionuk.org/

Not yet found one book that really inspires me as much as hanging out on the Mumsnet adoption boards and listening to advice from people who have been there done that.

The best book I read was No Matter What by Sally Donavon and its really clear about what post addition support she received and where support was less forthcoming. But I would second Italian - best information source has been these threads!
