Awww! We have had dh's nephew with us for 10 months. We were out today and it was a bit busy, nephew slipped his hand into dh's for the forst time (we have never had any physical contact). We both shed a tear!

Italiangreyhound · 22/03/2014 20:49

Fabulous Buster so glad.

fasparent · 22/03/2014 21:15

After celebration DD said you can kiss me now I am your Sister. Sweet.

Bananaketchup · 22/03/2014 21:30

I still cherish the night I'd put DD to bed and after I shut her door she shouted in a very accusatory tone 'I want a cuddle from you', after many weeks of pointedly hugging and kissing everyone in the family except me Grin Congratulations!

elfycat · 22/03/2014 21:34

MN needs a like button.

I have an adopted DN and I know these things are major family milestone. Smile

TwistAndShout · 22/03/2014 21:35

That's so lovely Buster, congratulations- wonderful progress Smile

Kewcumber · 22/03/2014 21:35

nephew slipped his hand into dh's for the forst time - when we were talking once about the small things that make us happy I mentioned the little hand that slips into yours unasked (rather than the "Hold my hand to cross the road" hand). My friend said "Ah yes - we call that the hand that makes me happy"

I have never forgotten that. It still makes me a bit teary to think of it. And thankfully at 8, DS still does it when he thinks no-one is watching.

Kewcumber · 22/03/2014 21:35

the hand that makes me happy

Because it deserves to be in bold.

Swansinflight · 22/03/2014 21:40

How lovely.

I still remember my first spontaneous kisses from DS - little dry ones on the end of my nose. He was about 3.

Enjoy. Smile

Swansinflight · 22/03/2014 21:43

Kew 'the hand that makes me happy' Smile Smile

My DS is similar age now and often won't hold hands but every so often says very seriously 'Mummy can I have a hand?'

Kewcumber · 22/03/2014 21:45

Swans - I don't think (from memory) that DS started the hand that makes me happy until he was about 5, so there's time yet!

Kewcumber · 22/03/2014 21:46

Oh I think I misunderstood - you mean he's about 8 now and has stopped...

I shall miss it when its gone.

mrsballack · 22/03/2014 21:47

I went out for the first time last week, to Zumba class.
When I got home ds said "I missed you mum"
He's been home 7 weeks and has always heavily favoured my DH. I may have got a bit teary.

Kewcumber · 22/03/2014 21:49

I have the worlds best picture of DS meeting me off the train from work (with my mum not on his own you understand). He was about 3 and sooo excited to see me - its just the best picture EVER.

Must find it.

Devora · 22/03/2014 23:21

My lovely moment recently was when dd2's teacher told me they had been reading a Todd Parr book at Storytime and dd was shouting with great glee, "That's me - I've got brown skin! I've got two mums! I'M ADOPTED!".

Kewcumber · 22/03/2014 23:58

Ha ha ha! Did anyone shout BINGO!

Lovely that you DD can actually celebrate it (sometimes at least) I know it isn;t always that straightforward.

Devora · 23/03/2014 00:00

It's just one long Todd Parr fiesta at our gaff.

Rare moment of social affirmation for the child who dreams of having blonde hair and blue eyes.

Exellis · 24/03/2014 16:17

Putting my youngest to bed a few weeks ago and as he went off to sleep said "I love mummy I love daddy" sooo sweet the next line made me chuckle 'I love me"! Unforgettable moments!

cedar12 · 24/03/2014 16:42

These are all so lovely. My ds is 3 and I sing him a made up song about being my lovely boy, he sang it back to me the other day saying your my lovely mummySmile

cedar12 · 24/03/2014 16:46

Another one, today when when dd got home from school ds said to her when you have finished your biscuit can I have big cuddle. He loves having a big sisterSmile

Happiestinwellybobs · 24/03/2014 19:38

DD looked at me seriously the other day and the. told me I was "a very special girl" Grin

Happiestinwellybobs · 24/03/2014 19:38

*then not the.

Buster51 · 24/03/2014 20:04

These are so lovely. My DS put a message for me on the waitrose Mothers Day wall of flowers. DH typed it on after DS said what it should say .... It made me all warm and teary.

crazeekitty · 27/03/2014 21:07

These are super. We should keep this going.

Mine's a funny one... In the middle of a raging tantrum, DD shrieking (in among all the things that are wrong) "AND YOU ALWAYS GIVE ME REALLY GOOD FOOD AND NICE CLOTHES" . Haha. It explained so many of her upsets that she was angry about this.

Bless her.
