Not a flounce, just a break.

Hi to all who 'know' me on here, just to let you know I'm going to take a break from mumsnet for a while.
I feel attacked by idiots who don't know me, and I feel I'm taking it all to heart.
Real life is hard enough at the moment without all this too.
Good luck to all going to either approval panel or matching panel soon.
I will probably be back at some point.

Hmmmm it's not good enough, is it .

I don't think suspending a thread can be the way to go because I'd be concerned that genuine threads asking for support would get suspended by (perhaps malicious) reporting. Will post on the other thread

bluepen · 22/03/2014 08:44

Were mumsnet told about this by anyone?

Ecclefechan · 22/03/2014 08:59

Yes - me (for one). They've banned the OP.

bluepen · 22/03/2014 09:11

A permanent ban, or a week ban?

Ecclefechan · 22/03/2014 09:29

Didn't specify.

bluepen · 22/03/2014 10:13

There is a difference.
One would require deregistering with the old email address and re registering with a new email address and new username.

OneOfOurLilkasIsMissing · 22/03/2014 11:29

I assume permanent

But the persistent troll I'm thinking of has been permanently banned a number of times and it's never held them back before

bluepen · 22/03/2014 15:35

Do they post on different threads, or just the adoption one?

Have you been able to work out what their motive is?

OneOfOurLilkasIsMissing · 22/03/2014 17:43

Oh he posts on loads of boards - usually either this one, aibu, chat, news or legal (sometime actually giving legal advice to people all which is bogus and stupid)

He started a spate of threads in adoptions in 2011, all were the same brand of stupidity, and some people had to take a break from the forums because of it

In 2012 and 2013 he stuck to the general boards, same shit over and over, posting on every care system related thread

Sadly this year he seems to want to invade our lovely support board again

By the way when I say 'he' I don't mean JH, this is someone else. He also posts prolifically in the comments on The Guardian for some reason

I have no idea why he does it and I have no hope whatsoever that he'll stop when he's been doing it happily for over 3 years already...

bluepen · 22/03/2014 17:51

So he has a agenda that he believes in?
Or have I got that wrong? I rarely post on the adoption board.

OneOfOurLilkasIsMissing · 22/03/2014 18:29

Oh yes an anti adoption, anti ss agenda, topics about social services or adoption are the only ones he posts on

bluepen · 22/03/2014 19:51

Could the people who regularly post on the adoption board have a code word, which is not obvious and is put in among amongst the replies? To alert to a possible troll? Or to alert to the troll that is regularly on here?
And that way you will also feel support amongst yourselves?

Sounds like not much can be done that is not already being done.

Perhaps the posters who are being upset by him can ask others to check up on them by pm when it happens?
