Hi there,

My partner and I are thinking about adopting a child. We live and work in Essex. I have a daughter from a previous relationship. We are looking to adopt just one child, hopefully a girl but we're not fussy!!!!

Has anybody been through the adoption process in Essex?

Please let me know about the process, good and bad things.

I have a son from a pervious relationship

Can I just say it will be most likely you will be encouraged to adopt a boy

As you already have a daughter adoption is hard enough with out adding a competitive element. I have 7 years as a foster carer and am now an a adopter it can work out adoption a child of the same sex however is usually better to adopt a child of the opposite sex and there needs will be different and less likely to be envy

So you may want to think of boys not girls

Just got through stage 1 in Essex and waiting to start stage 2. They've been exceptionally good so far although just been given our first delay due to admin reasons! Should have known that would happen after said on here how we'd had no hold ups.... cursed ourselves lol.
