Finding a Mum and Dad

Did anyone watch this?

I am not an adopter or even a potential one (would love to though) but I was so saddened by this programme.

The two adorable boys that nobody wanted, I have been very naïve about the whole adoption process, I assumed that potential adopters were matched to the potential children by social services?

Thoughts anyone?

There is a whole thread on here and also on Telly addicts about this.

There may be others.

Yes, children are matched to adopters and some adopters can also choose children from the ways suggested at the beginiining of the documentary (a magazine and website) plus the adoption activity days.

Many adopters may not be able to take two children and some would rather adopt younger children for a whole host of reasons.

Some will and do adopt sibling groups and older children.

Of course the numbers of adopters who have room to take more than one child or feel able to take older children is fewer than those who would prefer to adopt a younger child.

The good thing is that the programme got people talking about this important topic. And yes, those boys were lovely.

Thanks, just realized there were a couple of other threads!
