Children's social worker visit

We have been linked with a lo and his sw is coming to see us this week. We have been told no other families have been considered for him as he is such a good match for us.

Just wondering what will happen when she comes? Is she likely to look all round the house? We do not have a room ready for a child yet as it has all happened so fast.

The SW will want to check you are suitable in person as well as on paper.
You will need to check the lo is an OK match too.

Are you being given paperwork to look over in advance? If so then write down your questions / concerns to ensure they get covered. Remember at this stage it is about deciding whether to proceed with a match, not all the details you will need when/if lo moves in.

SWs didn't want to look round our house, though at least once we offered and it was accepted. Even if to say 'this will be the bedroom, of course we will paint it and put up new curtains etc etc'.

Thanks for that. Yes we have all his background information and a full history of his birth family and he has been with the same carer since he was removed from his birth mum. We have lots of questions written down already she will be here for hours answering our list

We had a visit today and they just went over a few questions which we had and asked us a few things about contact and stuff. They had a quick look around and that was it. It all was a bit weird tbh and I'm assuming they just wanted to meet us to get a feel for us as everything they asked was covered in our report.
They spoke about matching panel dates before they left so I'm taking that as a good sign.

That is great news congratulations. Did you still feel as positive about your link after the meeting? Any doubts?

Weirdly no doubts at all. These children seem to be right for us. I'm very excited but trying to keep a lid on it as there's a long way to go yet. Feels like its going to be ages but it's really only three months all being well
