B M I Buddy?

Anyone want to be my B M I buddy?

I am trying to lose weight as (well insert 100 reasons) but also because social worker is keen for mty BMI to be lower.

Anyone else in a similar situation want to share tips and encouragement?

I really do not need to know the calories in a salad or how to substitute low fat yoghurt for cream! I do need someone to encourage me, tell me I am doing well if I am, and for me to do likewise for them?

If you are that person you can PM me or you can post here.

certainly don't want to know your weight or BMI in this public forum but happy to talk via pm and just encourage each other!

Today's encouragement for me is I had the chance of a cream tea scone and turned it down!!

Best wishes to all (I am a newbi not yet an adopter about to go to panel).

2 jammy dodgers won't hurt you were celebrating. We all have our naughty days but say bye bye to them and start the new day thinking of all the good stuff we can have.

That campfire stew looks divine. I have a joint of gammon in the fridge so no prizes for guessing what I'm having for dinner tomorrow Smile

Hi! I've just joined MN & read about this thread on the Losing weight to be Matched thread.
My husband and I are partway through our assessment and due to go to panel in December. I'm trying hard to lose weight as I'm definitely in the upper end of overweight! We're trying to save as much as we can so I've been doing the 5:2 diet rather than going to SW or WW. I've also been walking loads. I've lost 2 and a half stone since the end of April and was feeling really positive about it all but have just come back from holiday and am struggling to restart after a few weeks off so any encouragement would be gratefully received!

Vickie welcome, wow, you have done well.

OK, I am crap at this weight loss thing but I want to get fit. As I get older I feel more and more decrepit and I want to get myself more supple!

I can't afford much but I do Taekwan-do and I stopped for a while so will re-start in September.

I'd love to hear any fitness DVDs that are actually good/fun whatever!

selly24 have you managed to curb the carbs? I love tinned fish, like mackerel. I find carbs a bit boring, (but still eat them!). Good luck.

Italian, do you take any medication? I've lost 13kg since February, mostly because I stopped taking the psychiatric medication that was making me hungry all the time. Last year I was diagnosed with binge eating disorder, turns out that is not the problem. Of course stopping that particular medication is causing other problems for me now so you often just can't win, but it is worth looking at the possible side effects of any meds.

This over eating predates my medication and all my meds are essential.

Did you chrckbeith consultant? Pease check with your consultant chocolatejam before stopping essential meds. Good luck.

I need a kick up the butt. I actually cried in a changing room today. Big family event next week and I stupidly thought I'd go get a dress and look nice Sad stuck once again in black trousers and a top my mum would wear (she's in her 70's).

Morning Italiangreyhound. Up and down. It's coming of slowly. Found out my fibroids have grown ones the size of a coconut and the other the size of a golf ball. So makes doing exercise uncomfortable but got to persevere. MintyLizzy9 we all have a bit of a wobbly. I don't think we would be normal if we didn't. We are here for you if you need us.

Godmother what are they going to do about your fibroids?

I also need a kick up the butt!

Well I have asked to be referred to the hospital that has been recommended by a colleague to see if they can reduce it or cut them out without having to have a hysterectomy my dear

Apologies if this is off topic but I thought somebody on here might be able to help.

As part of my ongoing attempt to lose weight I have been referred to the local gym/leisure centre by my GP. I have an induction this week but don't know what to wear. When I do exercise at home I'll often wear pyjamas (trousers or shorts) as they are cool and loose fitting, but obviously not ideal in public. I am really struggling to find sensible gym wear in larger sizes. Can anyone suggest possible items and a seller/store? Thank you in advance.

Hi Pamela

I did the same, Sainsburys do a generous fit yoga type trouser and leggings, I've also had stuff from Evans and Yours. Looked at bits on JD Williams but not actually ordered.

I'm going to see if I can get another referral as the gym does work for me.

Best of luck X

Thanks MintyLizzy9. I'll have a look at your suggestions.

I hope the gym works for me - I'm sure it will if I make it work. I'm glad to hear it works for you. My partner has also been referred to the gym so hopefully the sense of accountability and the competition will help us both.

Sports direct do la gear fitness gear up to size 22. As do asda's and tesco's. Am trying to think where else apart from eBay may do larger sizes.

PamelaPatricia · 12/09/2016 15:37

Thanks, Godmother78. Unfortunately I am larger than a size 22/24 so supermarkets and 'normal' shops aren't an option. Will have a good look on eBay though.

Ebay has everything plus size and a lot new stuff. It's one of my first stops for clothes now

Thank you for your previous help and apologies for derailing the thread a little.

How are people getting on? I am losing weight, but not enough or consistently enough.

How do people stay motivated when they are genuinely trying but know it is not good enough? A lot of my weight has been gained from comfort eating and issues surrounding self esteem so knowing I am not good enough or achieving enough is messing with my head. Any tips? Please also share your successes - it's great to hear.
