Dinosaur train

Has anyone seen this programme on nickjr? I have recently discovered it and used it to help my 3yr old understand his adoption. The mummy dinosaur (flying bird style dinosaur) has 4 babies and 3 are flying dinosaur type, the other one is a t-rex. She loves them all the same, treats them the same, and even though he doesn't look like her, that doesn't matter as he is still her son (dinosaur, I hope you're keeping up). At 18:30 every night, she also sings a really lovely lullaby to all 4 babies about "I will always be your mum", makes me a bit choked

Just thought I would share the wonder of children's tv, it's not all brain rot!! X

Yes, and Kung Fu panda is also adopted by his Father Crane. That's quite a nice story too as it explains the panda parents had to hide their baby in a bowl of radishes, to keep him safe. Its when the radishes are delivered to the Crane's restaurant that he finds the panda and raises him (while he eats him out of house and home). It was a good story for my children, whose father is adopted.

But avoid Despicable Me - evil genius trots up to orphanage to adopt three kids, takes them home the same day, takes them back when he decides he doesn't want them...

But in Despicable Me he realizes he cannot live without the girls as his family rescues them, builds them planes for beds and writes them bedtime stories - it does work out in the end.

But the message about taking them back if they're not wanted any more is pretty crass (DS knew it wasn't real, but still needed reassurance that we wouldn't be doing that with his little brother or sister)

Yes, its certainly harsh. And the orphanage was also harsh.
