I did this thread about a year ago, but I am a bit braver now

I love my boys with every fibre of my being, each day they make me more proud for coming through their early traumas to be the children they are today. Today, my oldest hasn't wet his pants at school for 4 days in a row, I could burst with pride!!

What adoption related achievements make you so so proud?

Couldn't not post, even though I'm still waiting for my LOs to come home. Yay for dry pants! Well done him, and you!

I've had lots of proud moments, the proudest ever would be holding DGD for the first time. Just couldn't believe it! I am still so proud of DD1 because she's changed so much from the girl I first met and I can't believe she is where she is today :)

It was wonderful when DD2 came to me for comfort for the first time after having a nightmare, we were several years in.
The first time both girls came to me for a cuddle and a kiss, also over a year in
First parents evenings that was overall positive about them
The first time DD1 said 'Lilka, I feel safe here with you'. She was 15
When DD2 got her GCSE results in the summer and proved how far she has come from the girl who couldn't spell her name at 10, to the girl who got an F in English 6 years later

I think my proudest moments are when dd1 and dd2 wrap their arms around each other, and say they love each other. Or when dd2 is sad and says she wants her sister to make her feel better, and dd1 cuddles her and says, 'Come on little baby, let me make you happy'.

My biggest fear when I adopted dd2 was about whether that sibling relationship, and whether we were short-changing both children by putting them together. Also, people constantly question the relationship (because of their different skin colours) and I am fiercely proud when my girls proudly own each other.

They give each other so much. I am so proud that we created not just new parent-child relationships but a new sibling relationship as well.

Feeling a bit weepy reading the posts so far - you're all amazing people, and well done to your LOs for each and every achievement, big or slightly less big.

I'm that people question your girls about their reltionship , devora. There are so many different types of familes with step siblings, half sibling, cousins you grow up with etc etc as well as mixed race bio families where everyone looks different . It's bizarre that soem people still think that (a) it's unusual and ( b) it's ok to comment.

I forgot to say, when my boys are beating the c**p out of each other, I remind them that, together with their sisters, it's the longest relationship they will have with anyone in their lives .i know not all siblings get on all the time, but when they do its a wonderful gift

DD often says how lonely she would be if we didn't have her younger siblings (now Her big sisters live abroad)

One doesn't always hear the positives to adoption.
Kristina, I say the same thing to my three girls, that once me and dad have gone they will still have each other.
I love the relationship my 3 have got, seems to me stronger than a lot of their peers and siblings.
I remember so well the day I told the older two that a baby sister had been born. Their first words were, "when is she coming home."No doubts at all in their heads that she would not come home to us.
Also I am so proud of the eldest and the way she looks out for her youngest sisters, who both have SN. She has said to me on many occasion that she will always be there for them.

I'm not sure I have any adoption specific proud moments. I am so proud of him so often that I would sound like a loon if I listed them all. Today he went to a friends house, they made their own pizza and saved me a piece. He told me in the car "it wasn't big enough mum, I was starving and pizza is my favorite. And I STILL saved you a piece" sniff.

I am proud of both my children when they hug and say "I love you": DS because he was thrown in at the deep end of being a brother, adoption was our choice not his, but he is a really brilliant big brother; DD because she has grown so much in every way since she came to us and adores being a little sister.

Hooray for dry pants, pizza and exam results! (Can't imagine having a GDD just yet!)

Oh this is lovely! I love the the thought of dry pants and no nappies!!!

I'm so proud of me eldest daughter at the moment (nearly 3). Everything we know of her from the FC says that she's a nightmare and has severe behavioural problems. Not to mention speech problems, sleep problems etc.

But lately she has really calmed down and is sleeping well for the first time ever, she tries new food, looks after her little sister and is basically a different child to the one we met just 3.5 months ago. You can see her actually trying to be 'good' and helpful - so sweet when she brings you a pretend cup of tea when you say you're tired!

And I guess I'm also proud of my youngest daughter (nearly 2) because she's at last learned that soap doesn't taste nice to eat!!! Now if we could just get her to learn that about crayons, mud, nappies etc!!

Kewcumber - that is so cute about the pizza!!!

Mine drives me crazy everyday, but I am proud of her for surviving her early years and still being a good-hearted little girl, full of kindness.

none of the above is true ..... I'm new at this all, I'm oldish (compared to Mums at his school) & certainly not yummy though I do own a Boden top ! but it was lovely that he said it
