Changes in adoption?

Hi all, sorry to be dim. About two weeks ago some changes in who can find out about children who are in the adoption system was launched. I don't about it and a friend mentioned it. Could anyone tell me where to look, please?

I have looked on line and can't find anything but a friend said there were changes in the system meaning people could adopt from different areas, but I thought that was always the case.

There's a map just released which shows which areas have high numbers of waiting children.

Which IMHO doesn't tell you what you need to know - it's all very well knowing that there are over 48 waiting children in Cumbria but less than 17 in North Yorkshire. But a) every year more children get placement orders and become avialable, and b) the figure is just say, 20 children waiting. 20 boys? 3 sibling groups of 3? 10 over 7 year olds? 14 with at least moderate level special needs? 5 healthy under 3's? etc. Doesn't really tell you much

As to bigger changes - I believe the government are going to launch a website which they want to make the single entry point for prospective adopters (according to the BBC). The qoute is "Later this year a national "Gateway for Adoption" website will be launched, which is designed to be a single point of entry to adoption agencies for people wanting to adopt."

Not very explicit - I guess it means you apply to agencies via that website rather than approaching the agency to start the process??

Thank, Lilka, I wonder if this is to do with making it 'easier' for adoptive parents to be?? I wonder what people think of all this?? Just curious as a friend asked me, have seen the map.
