Tomy talking album

Did anyone use the Tomy talking photo album? I have 8 pages to fill. My little one will only be 20 months so I'm not sure what she will understand from the photo's.

My idea was to put, a photo of me, picture of the front of the house, one of the cat, one of her bedroom with toys on the floor although I can't get the whole room in, living room with toys on floor, one of nana and one of her aunty and 3 cousins who she will see all the time.

What do you think? Any advice gratefully received.

I was planning to do a whole photo book of us, the dog, the house etc. etc. for FC to start showing DD. The FC and SW asked just for a photo of me, DH and the pooch. Our DD was 10 months however so slightly different. I think a few photos are better than lots. FC was brilliant using the photos - she put them at the end of DD's cot - i cannot describe the feeling when DD said mama and dada when she first met us (and then corrected me when we introduced her to "doggy". She looked at me as though I was bonkers, and said "bow-wow".

Mary its a photo album and as you open the page its has a recording of my voice ie, this is mummy I cant wait to meet you. You can record a message on each page, it only holds 8 photo's so not to many.

Nesting? errmm I'm stressing is that the same?! lol

Hi we did one of these for ds and he was 20 months aswell when we adopted him. He still looks at it now 5 months later.
We did a picture of me, picture of dh, both of us, picture of dd, picture of the dog, picture of his cot, then a picture of us all together.
The foster carer used it for the week before introductions.She said every morning she wake up to the sound of my voice!! as ds would play with it in his cot.

Nesting, stressing - yes very much the same - but so exciting :)

I did one of these - they are fantastic but sadly I don' t think the fc bothered with it.

We used a few different shots of us with d1 (repetition is good) and the house.

We did one too. DD is 19 months. We did mostly close ups of us (together, separate, doing x, y z) and the pets. I would recommend only short phrases on the voice record, as apparently LO turns the pages too fast to get to hear most of what we say!

Hi, We did one of these for each of our girls - the youngest was 18 months old when she was given it. We thought they would be too young and at first they just saw it as a toy but even now (they have been with us 10 weeks) they go back and pick it up and look through the pictures.

We didn't put any of anyone else in but did two of us together and one of each of us on our own, car, our dog, house and the local park.

We also did a dvd that the FC showed them every day although we're not convinced she did either!

My friend is a fc and used one of these with her last long term foster child. The child was 15 months, and she went through the book a few times a day, and left it within the child's reach the rest of the time.

The child loved to hear it's name being spoken - it was photos of the new parents and their children and pets.

The feedback has been that the child settled brilliantly, so maybe it helped.

Photos of bedroom, front of house, maybe the highchair/ area where she will be eating, cat, garden, toys, and only of you. I wouldnt include photos of anyone else.
Her primary attachment needs to be with you, so hearing your voice and seeing you is the most important thing, I think.

Yes we did this for our DD. She was 10 months at the time. It was also great for our DS who was 3 at the time as he enjoyed doing the voice over and it was a great way to involve him in the preparations for DD's placement.

I also bought a teething photo album.That was really good.Couldn't believe such a thing existed!

i bridged a little boy to adoption and the new parents sent the book with them talking and granny and grandad so when they came for the initial visit and subsequent ones the voices where familiar and it helped him to move on more easily
