Christmas

Hi Guys, there are loads of Christmas threads but I thought it might be nice to have one of our own :)

What little Christmas traditions does your family have? We have only had 1 Christmas so far, but my fave tradition we have set up is going to the matinee (sp?) performance of our local panto on Christmas eve. I got really good tickets last year by chance, so this year I booked in March to make sure we got the same seats this year

We go to watch 'It's a Wonderful Life' at our local independent cinema on Christmas eve. They serve mince pies and mulled wine (non alc for the children), there's always lots of sniffing from the audience toward the end, followed by applause when it finishes. We've watched it for the last 4 years and DS2 has already asked if we're going this year. We pick DS1 up from the station just before we go, which makes it all the more special .

We go to the same theatre on 23rd for DD's birthday too, it's not a traditional panto, but it's always lovely, with productions like The Twits and The Snow Queen.

My favourite tradition though, is the Christmas day walk through the fields before dinner!

I love Christmas we are gonna try and be more relaxed this year though. Last year we tried to cram so much in that we didn't have time to chill and enjoy it really!!

We also started putting a cuddly toy in their stockings with its head poking out the top. They also have personalised stockings. X x

How old are yours Rudolph?

We do a show,the snowman. Fantastic dd1 wants to see it again this year. Santa at selfridges, they have stopped it this year,will have to find another. One day of the weekend to set the tree up,edible decorations lasted about 3 hours
Xmas pjs for email cards,relatives and friends loved the ones I sent last year,also send to foster careers.
Wooden advent calendar with a choc coin every morning,kept them in my knicker draw for easy access.
Maybe do an outside skate session this year .

Mine are 3&4 now, so the youngest properly understands this year which is lovely. We waited a long time for family Christmases, I still can't really believe we get to have them

I love Christmas :) Can't get enough of it. One of my favourite things has been incorporating traditions from their birth culture into our own celebrations.

This is our first with DD (18months) but her foster parents took her on a Santa steam train last year, so we have found one near us to continue that tradition. I am also buying her a personalised stocking :) I can't believe we will finally be a complete little family this year!

We haven't done steam train before, it sounds lovely. Can't think why I haven't thought of it before!
