Having my home visit on tuesday next week.

Just wanting to know what they might ask

Is this your first, initial home visit?
Mine was just about making sure that my property was suitable, having a brief chat about why I wanted to adopt, and explaining the process to me.

They were in and out in less than an hour. I was really annoyed as had cleaned for days in preparation!

Mine asked why we want to adopt. They asked about our jobs, our family and what we were looking for in terms of age, number of children, their issues etc. they also asked us about debt and our health. Nothing in too much detail tho. it was a little bit like a mental checklist they were going through. Really really good luck x

They just want to make sure you're sane, that you understand what adoption is and isn't, and that your house isn't a deathtrap.

Clean up, brush your hair, offer biscuits. You'll be fine.

Hi fishwife I can't remember the order but basically this is what OUR new social worker (who seems lovely) asked us!!!

She asked us:

what kind of child we felt we might be interested in adopting and whether we had a preference about age and gender.

about our family composition, (our parents/sisters etc)

for one happy and one unhappy memory from our childhood

our education and a tiny bit about our work

about my thoughts on going back to work after adopting

if we were 'practicing' a religion

a bit about our marriage (we've been married over a decade and I think she kind of phrased it like what was the secret of a happy marriage).

I think she asked us what our DD thought about us adopting BUT I might have volunteered that information without being asked (because DD feels very positive about it).

She asked us if we had room in our house for a child, and asked to look around.
