I'm knitting a cuddly toy (with their approval, I make them for all my friends' children) but can I check wording for a card? Would New Arrival be appropriate? Obviously without all the ones basket/stork pictures...

Thank you!

How old is the child? We got lots of 'Congratulations' cards when our DC were placed, this seemed very appropriate and we have kept them all. If its a baby, then maybe new arrival would be nicer though.

It's a tricky one, but I would stick to congratulations.
HTH?

If you check out the cards in any card shop you will find some that are suitable eg " it's a boy/girl" "congratulations" etc

Lots of the specific adoptions cards are in fact for when the legal adoption goes through and not for when the child is placed, so they wouldn't be suitable anyway.

There are always cards which are blank so you can write your own message

You sound like a very thoughtful person . A toy you have made will be a special gift

How lovely, and what a thoughtful friend you are!

One of the loveliest things that we received when my little girl arrived was a dolly wearing a t-shirt with 'Welcome Home' on.
I loved that and got a real lump in my throat -and still do - whenever I see it :)

I had an 11 month old - welcome home, congratulations, new arrival were all quite appropriate and tbh I was touched that anyone even bothered as so many people don;t treat a new child arriving via adoption in the same way as a birth child.

Thank you again. Congratulations card has been duly purchased.

Sunflower, you've got me thinking - my last knitting mag has ideas for miniature knitting - the bunny may yet get a t-shirt!!!

When our 11 month DD arrived we received lots of baby girl cards - it was lovely!! A few congratulations cards too - we didn't mind what the cards said, just appreciated the thought and love behind them.

You sound so thoughtful - I am sure the toy will be treasured.
