Can anyone reccommend an easy type of reading book with stategies for dealing with temper/anger issues in adopted children. I understand attachment issues so I dont need anything like tha,t but one with real examples of say, child is throwing stuff about - then try this....
one for toddler age kids would be great.
Many thanks for any replies

I'm not sure the issues are any different from other children if they were adopted very young. Hourney of the Addopted self might be interesting reading though

Lost - Adopted children and birth children can display the exact same behaviour BUT the adopted child may be behaving like that for an enitrely different reason, and their behaviour may be much more intense. ALL adopted children, however young, have experienced seperation and loss, moving to their new parents will cause grief. Anger issues are quite common. Age of the child isn't a real indicator of what will happen next, as the body stores unconscious memories and can react to them physically

Funnychic, there are a few books. There is one called "The Explosive Child" which is what it says on the tin - about dealing with children who have anger issues and tend to just 'explode'. I have never read it, but heard it was very good. I don't know any others that deal exlcusively with anger issues. However there are some ones that will cover anger along with other things

Do you have quite a young age range? If so, I think the Toddler Adoption book (I think it's called the weavers craft) is a good one for toddlers in general

Are you about to end homestudy and go to panel? Very exciting times Grin One step closer to your wonderful child/ren :)
