Moving from USS to LGPS: leave USS as is or transfer pensions?

I am moving jobs shortly, and all pensions to date have been with USS. My new University is with LGPS. What have you done in this case? Do I leave the USS alone, and just start a new LGPS pension? Or what should I consider/look into. Any advice would be welcomed.

I can't help, but am also interested in the question, having moved to LGPS fairly recently.

If your USS pension is still a final salary pension, I’d leave it in place. Unless you can transfer into another final salary scheme.

I left my USS as is, opened an LGPS (for me this was a hugely better deal than USS) and have just reopened my original USS. I’m mourning the loss of LGPS but other pros to new role.

I am not on final salary. Seems I might need to see wgat is better. Might keep the USS as well likely move to another institution with USS in the future so might be easier. Will check what that would look like

Weirdly, I asked this very same question to ChatGPT as I'm in the same situation (although have left HE for a role that's on the LGPS). The advice was to keep what's in USS there (i.e don't transfer)

Thank you @FlappicusSmith that seems to be where I am getting to.
