I'm going to have a coffee then submit my meter readings. Last month's bill was £204.34.

Want to guess what I'll be paying now with the price hike?

Hold my hand. Feed me cake. Shit like that.

Yep a I'll play. Dd (12 is autistic, selectively mute - this is relevant). Had eye test (I did talking for her), didn't change frame got new lenses fitted to old frames. Went in to collect them. Over officious assistant won't give the glasses to me as DD wasn't there (she has very high anxiety levels and couldn't do it) on basis they need to check vision. Was also collecting DS's glasses - he was there. The vision check involved the following:
Assistant: how do they feel?
Is your vision nice and clear?
DS yes and yeah
End of check.
Previous opticians had no problem sending out glasses to us!!!

The prat on Sunday morning who decided that life was too short to drive 270⁰ around a quiet roundabout so went anti-clockwise instead.
Although with decision-making skills like that, his life is pretty likely to be short!

I think that's called natural selection

If in the U.K., it’s a legal requirement for glasses for children to be checked by a qualified optician before they’re dispensed. Not the rules of the assistant, unfortunately.

This is just too much. 😂

@IncyWincyGrownUp she wasn't the optician though. And currently as Dd Won't go to the shop she downs t have her glasses at all. I can understand it if they genuinely checked the vision but it's 2 questions and DD wouldn't answer them. She would stand there and say nothing. How do they mitigate for non verbal children? Dd is verbal but selectively mute. I'm the current situation DD won't have glasses she needs.

I've seen my family for less than 24 hours in the last two years. (Corona and travel restrictions.) We were planning to go to England in the summer.
We've suddenly had to bring our plans forward as a relative is unwell.
We are coming over on the Channel Tunnel and so have to drive in France. We won't be leaving the car.
DH's corona certificate expired 8 days ago.
Mine expired 3 days ago.
DS misses the child exemption by 19 days.
We now all need to book and pay for tests. To sit in the car for 25 minutes on French soil.
And then again coming home.
