Good riddance as far as I am concerned.

I like his Radio 2 show.

Have never quite forgiven the BBC for getting rid of Barry Norman and getting Woss in

MrsNarcissist · 07/01/2010 11:57

Great as I think he needs to do something different and without so much 'big brother' as the beeb can be. I couldn't care less about that phone call.

Molesworth · 07/01/2010 11:59

nigelslaterfan - SURELY Kermode will be first in line for the job? BBC seems to have been making more and more use of him recently, and now that Mayo has gone the time must be right to put him in the Norman chair?

Another vote for Mark Kermode for Film 2010!

PheasantPlucker · 07/01/2010 12:01

I will miss The Four Poufs

JulesJules · 07/01/2010 12:01

Although I suppose he is still doing the film reviews with Simon Mayo on Fridays. He's def best man for the job though.

Bonjour - Lisa Tarbuck -

You know I have never thought of her in the same way since I read the celebrity secrets thread on here.

chickbean · 07/01/2010 12:03

I don't understand why TV gets a thing about certain people and then overpays them and gives them so many different shows that we get sick of them. I don't have anything against Davina McCall, Myleene Klaas, Graham Norton, Ant & Dec, themselves, but I wish they'd give other people a chance. And, as a slight aside, I must be the wrong target audience, but I would never watch the news based on who was reading it (unless they really irritated me).

However, another vote for Mark Kermode for Film 2010 - he reminds me a bit of John Peel - in the sense that I don't always agree with his taste, but I love hearing him talk about it anyway.

mrmellors · 07/01/2010 12:06

Jonathan who?

BonjourIvressedeNoel · 07/01/2010 12:11

Is Lisa tarbuck a night mare irl then?

brightwell · 07/01/2010 12:12

I'm intrigued about Liza Tarbuck....spill the beans.

pinkteddy · 07/01/2010 12:22

I will really miss his R2 show. Although it hasn't been the same since the BBC refused to let it go out live. The whole thing with the phone call was an absolute joke, BBC management should never have let it go out. I fully expect the BBC to put Graham Norton into all his slots!!

BalloonSlayer · 07/01/2010 12:22

I think the story was that someone's DH's friend had slept with her, and she had done him up the arse with a big black strap-on. Or something

brightwell · 07/01/2010 12:25

Oh I say!!!!!

Dumbledoresgirl · 07/01/2010 12:26

Not bothered about the Friday night show or the film show (much preferred Barry Norman) and I do think JR is paid too much, but I will miss the radio 2 show. Not that I listen to it much - mainly when we are in the car on holiday - but it was always good for a laugh then.

MrsNarcissist · 07/01/2010 12:26

I have a friend who was a minion in TV production and Jonathan Ross was the nicest sleb she'd ever met.

wintera · 07/01/2010 19:59

Sorry to be pedantic but . . . If I remember correctly, the BBC didn't actually get rid of Barry Norman. He got more and more pissed off with them because they kept moving the film prog to different times every week or something. So when Sky offered him a very lucrative deal, he jumped ship. That's how I remember it anyway!

As for JR, well I don't mind him to be honest but I always forget about the Friday show, unless someone ultra famous is on it so am not bothered about that. I don't think he has very good taste in movies so would much prefer Mark Kermode on the film show. However, I will really miss his Saturday radio show. I have listened to that for a long time now and I think its a good show.

llareggub · 07/01/2010 20:06

I will miss the radio show, I've been bored with the Friday night show for some time. I've heard Graham Norton mooted as a replacement for Friday night, and I really hope that he doesn't get it. I can't stand him.

Agree that the 4 poufs should stay! Maybe they need their own show?

wintera · 07/01/2010 20:19

I would like to see someone different get the Friday night job I must admit. The BBC could do with some fresh blood now I reckon. Its always the same old names over and over again whenever there is talk of a re-shuffle. Surely there must be some new talent out there?

Just been talking to my Husband about it and when I mentioned Mark Kermode for the film show he looked really pleased. However, when I said Graham Norton for the Friday night show he rolled his eyes. Says it all really!

I think he's past his sell by date.

He's like some dirty old man Sid James type character when he interviews women. It's really creepy.

Perhaps now he's going the BBC will have more money to pay for the freelancers like myself.

southeastastra · 07/01/2010 20:24

i'd like to see a more serious type of interview show, are there any these days?

maybe stuart maconie, though he's a bit bloated these days (sorry stuart) nice guy though

OrmIrian · 07/01/2010 20:38

I've just realised the reason I dislike Woss. I hate chat shows. Almost as much as I hate reviews of the year. And Woss is more sycophantic than most.

nomorecake · 07/01/2010 20:45

i only occasionally tune in to saturday night with jr for the guests.
although i agree with other posts that he's creepy with women.
also he spends to much time trying to be funny to the guests than ask them actual interesting questions.
when the guest walks off, i channel hop until the next guest comes on.
the channeling hopping annoys dh, but i put it to him that we either channel hop or listen to jr. i win.
