Anyone else watching Million Pound Shot?

Very powerful and a very good message. I was furious with it at first until I realised what it was really about

The message it delivered was very good

I thought it was awful. Really lousy acting made it unbelievable from the start.

I must be gullible, I said from the start I couldn’t believe it had been given a license to be broadcast but only realised it was a spoof way in

There's already a thread about this, just FYI.

A lot of people are being negative about it, but I thought it was great - if not difficult to guess where it was leading. If it was obvious to you, it probably means that you're lucky enough not to need to see and get it for yourself.

I do wonder if Channel 4 are going to continue taking adverts from these companies, though. I kind of think it would have been powerful, in a 'meta' kind of way, if they'd only had adverts for gambling companies in the breaks for this programme - and then never again.

It's actually illegal for any gameshow to get contestants to gamble using their own money. There was a gameshow called Stakeout quite a few years ago (made for Challenge/Flextech iirc), where they had a team of 4 or 5 people who had to stump up £250 between them, which was then doubled by the programme, and the idea was to bankrupt your opponents and take the lot.

Even with such relatively modest sums involved, the programme fell foul of the law, so they had to amend it so that the TV company gave them the original stake, as well as them then doubling it.

Channel four seem keen on these ‘ black mirror’ type shows. The experiment was the same too.
Inside number 9 did the game show one a few years ago.

I thought it was interesting and showed the tricks the gambling industry use to keep people addicted and playing
