Should I talk to him and how?

A bit light hearted, but a bit serious, too.

I walk my dog at regular times before and after work and over the last weeks I have noticed a man in our usual walking spot. It’s not a scenic walk or anything but rather dreary most days. He doesn’t do anything offensive but just seems to stand there staring at the shoreline (early mornings, sometimes in the afternoon). Very good looking lad and doesn’t look homeless or like he is on drugs.

I was initially a bit freaked out but he has never said anything or looked at us, so I can’t say that I have any reason to be scared of him. Part of me wonders if he is alright, but I also don’t think that this would qualify calling the police because he isn’t doing anything wrong?

I’ve been thinking about striking up a conversation but part of me wonders if this will be wrong. It’s probably a hit of paranoia mixed curiosity and paranoia in case he needs some help, if this makes sense.

Does he make eye contact or notice you passing? If so, could you just say, "Good Morning?' every time you see him and see if that turns into mre chat one day. If not, I'd just let him be.

Why don't you just say, "Hello", to him and make some comment about the weather?

Where I live people would at least say, Hi, to someone they saw while out walking. Seems odd not to.

Yes, go engage with your stalker.

Stalker, seriously? He is staring out to sea, how on earth is that stalking. Christ men can go nothing without suspicion. Just say hello, or comment on the weather if you want to talk to him.

I said hello once but he didn’t even look around and this felt really odd so I left it.
Yeah I might just keep saying it every once in a while. After all he seems to be turning into a regular.
And stalker ffs…he isn’t stalking anyone, just standing there looking out at the water.

For all you know .. he could have scattered some ashes there previously, it could be a place of memory of something or someone important , he could be struggling with his mental health and likes the noise of the water , he could find it peaceful , he could be waiting on his date , he could be a secret rubbish jogger and is waiting for you to go so he can try again
He’s not bothering you so leave him be ?
