Stacked washer / dryer pros and cons

Our current set up is side by side in the tiny utility room. I want to stack them but dh isn't convinced

He reckons we'd have to buy new ones- that only certain ones stack. He also says that our machine dances about when we wash heavy things like towels so would fall off.

Do you have stacked? Would you recommend?

You don't need different appliances but there are kits to stop them moving.

Or get something like this (just an example the delivery cost is high on this one)https://amzn.eu/d/0foYpRbm

I've had my dryer stacked on top of my washing machine for years. Never been a problem and certainly doesn't "dance around"

We have stacked, there was a small platform built when we moved in for it, like a wooden shelf above washing machine attached to wall with a metal support leg on other side, dryer goes on top, no issues and easier to get stuff out of dryer at eye level

My last place was stacked, my current place side by side. I miss it.
You just need a frame so everything is nice and stable, but it does make life easier and very sensible in a small space.

Ours are stacked, tumble dryer on top of washing machine. They aren't specific models designed to stack, and we don't have any kit to fix them. Just stacked them the day we moved in and they've been absolutely fine for the last seven years.

If your washing machine is properly levelled, there shouldn't be any 'dancing' - so it sounds like you need to level yours properly. Grab a spirit level and check it's level both side-to-side and front-to-back. If it's not, the washing machine feet are adjustable by screwing them in/out until it is level.

Silly question, I know - but I’m just under 5ft tall, how are you able to reach the dial on the dryer if you’re a little short-arse like me ?
