Has anyone applied for a job or work for David Lloyd?

DC1 is a lifeguard and works for some seasonal providers. They recently saw a DL lifeguarding job advertised and wanted to apply.

The advert has no details about hours or pay rates

There is no contact details fro an informal chat

There is no information about time frames to hear back or interview

The application form is American for date formats, and you can only upload High School education from drop down boxes that don't relate to UK qualifications like GCSEs.

It's a lifeguarding job but it asks for certificates in tennis coaching

Just wondering if anyone else has battled through such nonsense and whether things improve if you are an actual employee?!

A housemate worked for them as a receptionist, but that was the 1990s...

Go drop his cv into the front desk with a covering letter. Say the online form is asking for American qualifications so thought that was best.

You could probably apply for a job using free text using a pen and paper then - all v enviable!

Good idea.

This is the weird thing of it not having any contact details for the recruiter or manager on it though. It is u clear of the job applications are managed centrally (so centrally they are in the US?) Or if the local branch get involved at all.

I think if it’s a bad start like this, what are they going to be like going forward?

Bluelake · 01/11/2026 11:54

If it's currently open, is there an email address or could he pop in with his cv and a covering letter. If not open yet, is there an email address on their site, he could contact.

That is my concern!

But they are so popular; it is a bit baffling!

They very carefully have absolutely no contact names or details anywhere!

We could sort a physical approach but it seems so odd and v unclear whether the local branch are involved in recruitment processes at all.

How much personal information is this asking for? Are you sure this is legit?

It is through the main David Lloyd website, so I would assume so!

They use Workday as the HR application platform which can default to US variants and can be a bit fiddly to navigate; I’ve used the platform for other job applications and it’s usually the case that you can upload your CV and tick the box for it to autofill the form rather than manually complete all the sections. Has he tried that?

I will check!

Apparently that was an option at the start but they chose the manually fill in route!

For NPLQ lifeguarding?!

Daughter applied for a receptionist job and was horrified by the group interview process!

Boomer55 · Yesterday 16:29

My grandaughter (qualified lifeguard) worked for them, until a year ago, when she got another job. She got a job on a cruise ship.

No group interviews though. She just applied and went up there for an interview.

The pay was about average, although they did want extra hours if needed.

She enjoyed the job.

Dd worked for them before covid, during covid times when they reopened and for a while after. Behind the bar. Generally they are fairly desperate for lifeguards.

id say they’re an ok employer but it depends on the manager. Dd got on fine for years and then a manager left and the new manager was not as nice. Dd was bullied out to be honest. She had health conditions and nearly died and they wanted her out. The manager was telling his deputy he was going to do everything in his power to get rid of Dd, wouldn’t refer her to OH, wouldn’t make reasonable adjustments. Dd just left, she was sick of them. I think if she hadn’t become ill and had time off sick things would have been fine. But they broke every disability discrimination and employment rule going.

i know someone who worked there as a lifeguard and receptionist and had no issues, same branch. They were very flexible around educational commitments. You also get free gym membership which is a bonus.

cant comment on the recruitment process as they knew me as a member and i asked if there were any jobs going and they said yeah tell her to start next week! 😂
