It’s like a normal flue, except nobody cares… 😂

NorrisToenail · 01/11/2026 09:28

Are you talking about vaginas?

Sherararara · 01/11/2026 09:28

For your mum fire?

BountyMarsMilkyWay · 01/11/2026 09:30

For your own personal fireplace?

You're not performing it properly OP. You need to put on a dressing gown and plod very slowly from room to room groaning and sighing that you've never felt so ill.
Throw yourself heavily onto the sofa with a hand to your brow announcing that you just tried to get yourself a drink but went dizzy at the kettle, so are waiting for it to pass.
Every so often try to get to your feet, then collapse back on the sofa.
If any family member addresses you, respond in a weak voice that you'll answer in a minute when it's 'passed'. Then don't.
Phrases such as 'my heads banging', 'I feel like I've swallowed razor blades' 'Every bone is aching' can be uttered at intervals for emphasis.

Flu or flue?

Do you have a virus or a problem with ventilation of your fireplace?

Pudmyboy · 01/11/2026 09:44

NorrisToenail · 01/11/2026 09:28

Are you talking about vaginas?

I thought this!
I was waiting to hear a tale of persistent thrush or similar...

Sherararara · 01/11/2026 09:44

Might want to book an appointment with the gynaecologist OP.

CharliePingPong · 01/11/2026 09:59

What is "a mum flue"?

If it's a typo for mum flu why is the "a" there?

GiftWrappedSuburbanDreams · 01/11/2026 10:03

Flue 🙈 some of these replies hahaa

Are you talking about vaginas?

That was my first thought! I mean I have had 3 kids but I wouldn't consider it a flue.

In our house I am the one who dons the dressing gown of doom and tries to elicit as much sympathy as possible. DH just gets on with it.

If this is someone misspelling flu then as a nation we’re doomed

Yetanotherone12 · 01/11/2026 10:09

I came to see why chimneys would be assigned to mum in particular.

like do you have multiple chimneys and one is your responsibility?

mumumental · 01/11/2026 10:15

Only men can get flu

Are you talking about vaginas?

That's where my mind went too - I didn't think of viral infections. I feel daft now.

Relax, you are not doomed. English is not my first language and I have not polluted your nation’s gene pool by procreating.

All, I have misspelt flu. I meant viral infection, not actual flue or vaginas.
I am owning it - I didn’t know it was spelt flu, not flue.

Still, Mum flu is a real thing.

squashyhat · 01/11/2026 10:44

It's actually spelled influenza. So you were right in a way 🙂

DeathBanana · 01/11/2026 10:45

I expect mum flu is the sort where you have to drag your sorry arse out of bed and keep going otherwise the lives of all around you will crumble. If that’s right you have my sympathies op

SeeIdontmindbeingthebadguy · 01/11/2026 10:54

“Don’t worry you will be fine with a coffee”. That’s what I usually get told. (I’m the seemingly one person in the nation who doesn’t like tea)

gamerchick · 01/11/2026 11:17

Ah flu? Sorry OP, I got a loading swirl and thought it was an euphemism for something.

Feel better soon. It's shit when we don't get to rest

Flomasterina · 01/11/2026 11:19

I am going to get it next, I just know it - this is what I was told… I pray he doesn’t.
