I woke up at 7.30am full of flu. D'C' left at 10am for breakfast and a day at a city with the focus being on drinking! He will not be back until 2.30am when he gets a lift as no cheap hotels were available

Its going to be a LONG night!

Poor you. I hope you manage to get to sleep before 2.30

Mine are both out at a party, then heading into town, but I don't understand how this is supposed to impact my night, except for the fact that I have DD's dogs?

Randomchat · 31/10/2026 21:27

Mine are both out but I'm not picking them up. They can get an Uber on my account. I've enjoyed all the tiny trick or treaters at my door this evening and now I'm going to bed.

Is he quite young and so you can’t sleep while he’s out?

PressedThistle · 31/10/2026 21:29

Waiting for the drip feed that he's 27...!

Mines at university, don't know where he is!

absolutepisshead · 31/10/2026 21:30

Mine doesn’t come home until 4 usually, I’m not staying awake. But I always wake when she walks through the door

I don’t understand this thread??
Why do you need your adult child at home with you tonight?

chosenone · 31/10/2026 21:45

I struggle with this and actively have to fight off anxiety. Both adult DC at Uni and have been out for Hallow week! I remind them about staying together, watching drinks etc and just have to hope for the best.

My rational side is so pleased they’ve got friends and are enjoying themselves like I did. But, if I wake up in the early hours I start to wind myself up and check Snapmaps which everyone is telling me not to.

I don't understand it either, but it is making me think I am a mean parent because would I bollocks arrange to pick my daughters up at 2:30 am or let them use my Uber account.

They're old enough to go out drinking; they're old enough to get themselves home.

I would probably make an exception for a once-in-a-lifetime concert if they couldn't get a hotel, but a regular Halloween? Fuck no.

Onemoret1me · 31/10/2026 21:55

I need to be more like you lot.

I worry so much about everything. Anxiety is an awful think to live with and I really need to get it in check before my kids want to start going out drinking.
