Sorry, I know this isn’t exactly a real-time parking dispute or an unhinged MIL drama but I need a hive mind as reviews are mixed for each of them.

The pistachio KitchenAid one would match my stand mixer but the other one can be switched on from another room via Bluetooth, no less!

Any of you have either of these and had a good or bad experience?!? If you have the Russell Hobbs one, does the light stay on when you’re not using it??

I've had the green one and the coating on the outside started to flake off within three months.

Nooooo, really??? Did they replace it?

No. Well actually I never asked them to.
Maybe they would have if I'd asked.

I prefer the sage one but I wouldn’t ever use the Bluetooth option on the other because I would have to get up and check it had enough water in it so it doesn’t boil dry.

Interested to know what colour kitchen you have with both being so different!

GinToBegin · 31/10/2026 21:00

We have the KitchenAid one, but in red. No issues with it at all, although it’s a fair bit heavier than any other kettle I’ve owned or used. Probably had it 7-8 years now and still going strong.

hotmumshit · 31/10/2026 21:23

Ooo go for the colourful one i say

You think you wont use the Bluetooth thing, but i am sure it will come in handy

BinNightTonight · 31/10/2026 21:31

I personally prefer the look of the green one!

pictoosh · 31/10/2026 21:40

Why would you want a Bluetooth connection to turn it on from another room?

pictoosh · 31/10/2026 21:42

What's the wee circular gauge on the green one for?

Eta: does it indicate the water level?

If so, I far prefer that one.

DoesContainNuts · 31/10/2026 21:54

We had the KitchenAid one and it was ok for a while, then gradually it took longer and longer to boil. I was at my parent’s house using their £10 kettle and realised then how crap ours was, it wasn’t just the actual time it took but it was filling the kitchen with steam. Oh and the coating around the lid area soon flaked off.
It looked pretty and I liked the adjustable temperature but wouldn’t recommend it at all.

Neutral! I didn’t choose it, I live in social housing. It’s nice though.
That’s a good point about boiling dry

I don’t! Just a cool feature. It’s not the connectivity I’d be buying it for, I actually mostly like the lights!

Ah. Then just buy it for the lights. 😊

Tbh my experience tells me that splashing out on a kettle is a waste of time. They all boil water whether it was 15 quid or 150 quid.

Once had a fancy Dualit kettle that cost a packet. It broke after a couple of years. Got a plain black Tesco basic to replace it and it's still going after a decade or more.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 01/11/2026 09:27

If it’s the lights you want, you can buy light up kettles without Bluetooth for about £20-25 from Amazon and home wares shops. Tower do them, amongst others. We’ve had a couple, they both
lasted a couple of years, but the lights really showed up any fingerprints, grease and limescale!

A cheaper option similar to the sage green one:

https://www.next.co.uk/style/st157223/n52043

I have it in cream with a matching toaster and its lovely and less than half price of the Kitchen Aid one!

pictoosh · 01/11/2026 09:51

I'd say buy one based simply on looks, never mind the branding.
That wee Next kettle linked above is really cute.
Just choose what's appealing to your eye.

Edited

It's a temperature gauge. We have a very similar kettle. Easy to see if the kettle has recently boiled without putting your hand on it.

Canape · 01/11/2026 09:57

We have the pistachio KitchenAid one, I like the variable temperature which I often use. Though if you are left handed be aware they are designed for the right hand. DH is left handed and keeps putting it back the 'wrong way' annoyingly

Canape · 01/11/2026 10:01

If you switch it on from the next room, what happens if there isn't enough water.

I see. Thanks.

DoubleBusy2026 · 01/11/2026 19:02

Thanks everyone. I am left handed as it happens, but I lift kettles with my right hand, weirdly! In fact I do everything except write, with my right hand. Very odd
