What treats do you get yourself?

I'm a single mum to two teens and they are often busy with friends during the weekend and don't always want to hang out with me so I have some weekend daytimes or evenings free.

What treats do you buy yourself? Im looking for inspiration. Im too old for partying. I buy books and candles, was wondering about a spa day. I work all week and have got into a bit of a rut and want to have some nice little or bigger things to look forward to.

I was recently given a gift token for a facial.
It was gorgeous.
I now treat myself every other month.
Seriously self-indulgent and seriously worth it.

Raiderofthelostbattenburg · 31/10/2026 20:39

Books I my biggest self treat, but I do also like taking myself off for a solo cinema or theatre trip.

Leeds2 · 31/10/2026 20:41

Cinema.
Box of nicer than usual biscuits or chocolates.
Bag of posh crisps with a dip.
Trip to garden centre for coffee and cake, and to choose a new bauble for the tree.

At this time of year, I’d go to a public bonfire.
Bottle of wine.
Trip on the train to somewhere reasonably close that I hadn’t been to before. I would choose the seaside, and have fish and chips and an ice cream, with a walk along the beach.
Do the Park Run.

Quite boring but fancy shower products make me very happy. Shampoo, conditioner, face wash and shower oil wash stuff.

newroundhere · 31/10/2026 20:44

Today I bought a packet of Mrs Crimbles coconut macaroons, which was my treat to me! But I'm guessing you're looking for something a bit more extravagant than that!

Trentdarkmore · 31/10/2026 20:46

Crochet yarn.
A new jigsaw.

Stormyrose · 31/10/2026 20:47

Nice shower gel, body moisturiser and good make up,

GameOfJones · 31/10/2026 20:51

I take myself off for a mooch round the charity shops and for a coffee.

Or a solo cinema date which always feels really indulgent for some reason.

I like finding new products to try in TK Maxx and give myself an "everything shower"......body scrub, shave, lotion, hair mask.... the works.

Going on a walk and listening to a podcast.

Puzzle magazines.

Setting myself a £20 budget and buying whatever nice treats I'd like from M&S for that amount. I try something different each time.

Gig tickets 🎵. So long as there's a last train home, or Travelodge if it's a weekend, the world (England, maybe Ireland depending on artist & venue) is my oyster.

Or learn a hobby? I craft various items & read. Currently working through a large stash of yarn & sizeable to be read pile - they grow because I rarely say "no" to myself these days. I also love Christmas crafting - several kits and things I'll probably never get to but 🤷‍♀️. I had fun picking them for myself and just like to look at my things that are just for me sometimes.

ShakyBake · 31/10/2026 21:36

Well as it’s Halloween today I treat myself to the shittest food on the planet hot dogs out of a tin in rolls with onions, ketchup and mustard. Every Halloween.

On a regular week I like lunch in my fave cafe. I also like watching a film totally alone. No interruptions. Hard when the kids were small.

DeeDeeSharpWhatKindOfLadyNSoul · 31/10/2026 21:49

I sometimes get a takeaway all by myself when DS is at his dad's.
I like doing crafts in front of the TV so once in a while I'll buy a crafting kit of some kind.
I'm back to buying real paperback books.

Freshrain · 31/10/2026 22:13

Fresh flowers ,I spend about £10 a week on them .

QueenOfAccountability · 31/10/2026 22:55

My two latest treats have been.

  1. A really posh umbrella from Fulton - all my life i've only ever had cheap crappy umbrellas from Home Bargains.
  2. A really posh pair of household scissors from Whiteley in Sheffield - again, i've only ever had cheap crappy scissors before.
